WL room questions

Hi everyone,

Longtime lurker here - infrequent poster (feel like I am calling a radio show so I decided to act the part :animwink:)
Anyway the reason for my call - I mean post is this:

We booked a stay at the WL for 2/28-3/7 (gotta love buy 4 get 3 free plus a $200 gift card:sohappy:) and I wanted to request a room as close to the lobby/elevators as possible - Hubby has bad knees - and was wondering who to contact and when to make the request. I know they can't promise or guarantee anything but I figure I have nothing to lose by asking nicely right?
Also does anyone know if all the rooms at the WL have an in-room fridge or not and if not what the per-night charge would be to have one?

The last time I stayed at the WL was for my honeymoon 5 years ago and that was conceirge and it's been a few years before that since the last time I stayed in a regular room there. Since we live just north of Orlando (in Sanford) we don't stay on property too often but visit the parks for day trips most of the time.

Thanks!

Glad you took the plunge Rebecca.
There should be refrigerators in every room, if not for some reason, one will be provided at no charge.

As for requests, there is the opportunity to make those when making the reservation, you can call back with reservation number and add the comment. There is the caveat that while requests are taken, they cannot be guaranteed. I have had good success with requests, and would expect your request to be given priority as it is not frivolous at the time of check-in.

It is a wonderful property, hope you enjoy it. If you get the chance, consider a dinner at Artist Point (quiet and fairly intimate) and breakfast at Whispering Canyon (noisy and not at all intimate ). Remember that easiest access to MK is by boat.

Call Central Reservations and have it noted on your reservation that you would like a room near one of the elevators. WL has more than just the elevators in the main lobby, there are some down the wings as well. If you leave your request simple like "I would like a room near the elevators as my husband has bad knees" then it will be much easier for Disney to honour it. I've never had a problem with requests that I put on the reservation being honoured because I keep them simple and few in number. You can always ask at check in to if the room is near and elevator and if not ask if it would be possible to be moved to a room closer to the elevator. It may mean you have to wait for your room but if Disney can honour it, they will.

Also I believe that when the WL was refurbished a few years ago, they put a fridge in every room. Since the refurb I've stayed in a Woods View and a Courtyard view and both rooms had fridges in it.

Thanks for the info :) I made my ressies online through the disney website - so I will look for a number there or on the paperwork they sent me showing that I paid and give them a call. Might have to look into having a surprise sent to the room for our anniversary too - We're all (me, hubby & 11 year old son) are very excited about the trip - counting down the days and everything

WL is my favorite resort to stay at though I LOVE the theme at the Poly - just don't like having to go from building to building for everything if the weather is bad. Hubby actually proposed the one time we stayed there and we later had our wedding at Sunset Pointe :sohappy:

Oh, you didn't say that part.....
When you call, do say also that it is an anniversary trip and confirm at check in! Get yourselves anniversary buttons if they don't have them at check in and wear them proudly throughout your visit. Also when you make dinner reservations, mention that it is for your anniversary. Not all places will do something extra, but many of the nicer restaurants (like Artist Point) do add some nice touches. Congrats!

If you want to have something delivered to the room you can check out the following website. It's called Memories by Betsy. http://www.memoriesbybetsy.com/Memories_by_Betsy/Welcome.html Betsy will help you design a gift for your hubby and have it delivered to your hotel the day you arrive and it will be delivered by Bell Services at some point after you've checked into your room. I did this for my mom on our last trip. Another option is the Disney Florist. Here is their website. http://www.disneyflorist.com/

I've used both in the past and wouldn't hesitate to use either one again. Disney Florist just didn't have what I was looking for on this last trip.

Thanks again! You guys are full of some fantastic ideas! We've got dinner ressies at Le Cellier for our anniversary and I did make sure to mention that when I made the reservation! Now to wait for the trip to get here already :ROFLOL:

Good thing we are spending the day for my hubby's b-day the 27th and possibly doing a weekend the end of the month :)
