WL Late Check-out

In my experience the Disney resorts rarely offer late check out, mainly due to the fact they are always so well occupied. It's worth an ask though.

Does the WL do late check-out? If so, what time is their late check-out and does it cost extra?

I asked for late checkout out when we stayed at the WL in July. They said yes, and offered a 1 p.m. checkout time. Call housekeeping from your room a few days before you are leaving, when they will have a better idea of how many rooms they have to turn over that day. Oh, and no it did not cost extra.

ALL Disney resorts will hold your luggage for you while you go to the parks on the last day.

If your flight isn't until 9pm, pack your luggage, pack what you need for the day and carry it with you, stow your luggage with bell services.

You can then return to the resort around 6pm or so, claim your luggage, and head to the airport.

Here's the official Disney policy

Check-out time at all resorts is 11 a.m.

If you want to request late check-out, you must contact HOUSEKEEPING ... the Front Desk is not in control of this. The very earliest you can request this would be the night before. Doing it earlier than that is pretty useless, since there's no way for them to know the proper info that early. Often, they won't even be able to give you a definitive answer the night before, and you'll have to wait 'til that morning, the morning of your check-out day.

IF late check-out is granted, here's the prices.

'til 1 p.m. -- no charge

'til 3 p.m. -- 50% of rack rate (translation: half of the normal, undiscounted rate for a night at that resort)

after 3 p.m. -- 100% of rack rate

We just got back from All Star Music Jan 9th - 15th and we asked for a late checkout. They told us to come back the day before we checked out. We then came back and asked, they said they have to ask a supervisor, but the latest would be 1 p.m. They called the supervisor and they gave us Noon instead of 1 p.m. I felt like they could careless of your needs because it was the last day of your visit. But the extra hour was nice though. :)

Its not a matter of caring about YOUR needs. Think of having to wait, and wait for your room when you arrive early, and want to check in, but you cant because your room is not ready! Not ready because someone left late, and housekeeping has not cleaned it.

So far everyone is correct, so my post is probably needless, but anyway....

Understand that being granted a late check-out is a FAVOR, not a right or privilege. 11am is check-out time, period. If your room isn't slated to be given to someone else immediately after you, you MIGHT be granted an extra hour or two.

If you're staying in the Villas, by chance, there is no such thing as late check-out at all. I'm not sure if you're in the main hotel or the villas, so I'm just letting you know.

I agree that your best bet is to just check your bags with Bell Services. We did this on our last day (Jan 10th) at WL and went to the parks until our ME pick-up time. You can access your bags as much as you want while they're stowed, so you don't even have to carry a bag of necessities with you.

Enjoy!

Honestly, I can't understand your take on this.

Imagine you arrive at your resort front desk from the airport around 5 p.m., eager to get to your room to freshen up, change your clothes, and get to a dinner reservation. The front desk clerk tells you that she's sorry but your room isn't ready yet. You tell her you don't understand, since the check-in time is 3 p.m., two hours ago. She then tells you that they care so much about their guests and their guests' needs that they allow them to stay a few hours later than check-out time whenever they feel like it, regardless of whether or not someone else needs that room by check-in time. I have a feeling you'd have a problem with that, and that you'd be complaining about that instead of complaining that they don't care about your "needs" on your check-out day.

I don't mean to come off sounding nasty (I truly don't mean it that way :)), but it helps to consider the entire system rather than only your perspective.
