Wizarding World: A BIG Letdown!

Don't get me wrong. I am a big fan of the Harry Potter book & film series.

I just felt like WWOHP was not worth the $$$. The main attraction (Forbidden Journey) made us all sick feeling afterward. Dragon Challenge is just a re-themed version of Dueling Dragons.

While I have to give IOA credit for effort...the final result was underwhelming to say the least. Not as big as the hype for sure.

No, WWoHP is included with IOA admission. No, that small area is not worth the money, but an entire day in the park riding other attractions in the park would be.

I agree with that. If I'd thought it was its own theme park, as a lot of sites were originally promoting it, I would have been disappointed too. But I think what they did with that small area is amazing.

I think one of the biggest problems with people not liking the Potter ride is because of the motion...

But the people who seem to complain about it are almost always people who get motion sickness easily. If you aren't someone who tends to get motion sickness, then i would recommend just sitting back and enjoying the ride. The first time I rode it I got a bit dizzy, but I found out it's pretty much because you're taking everything in. My second ride and every other since has been much easier for me...and I haven't felt dizzy or sick since.

I've been hearing several reports from people that never get motion sick feeling quite ill after the ride. I think if trying to take in a ride makes you sick then there are some issues with it. Some people don't have the luxury of going several times so they should be able to take in a large portion of the ride with out causing themselves to become ill.

Can someone explain to me what the ride system is for FJ. I'm thinking about going down to visit IoA and see it in January but am not so keen on roller coasters or adventurous rides. I'm trying to see if it's something I'll like because it seems pretty cool. Thanks!

I didn't get motion sickness. I did however, find it incredibly annoying and an eye sore that the screens seemed so blurry and of poor quality.

Crockett, I felt the same way after seeing WWOHP, actually. I didn't have super high expectations, seeing as it was Universal, but it was still very underwhelming.

I went on it multiple times throughout the day when I went and it did not bother me at all, and the screens and such seemed to be in good shape.

I'll agree to disagree though. I thought the rest of IOA was in poor shape compared to the WWOHP portion. I spent the majority of the day in there. Hopefully WWOHP will get an expansion sometime in the near future and make it better. And the theme for the Dragon Challenge is much better than the Fire and Ice it was named before. But to each its own

I got queasy on FJ, but liked it so much that when I go back next year I'm going to try an anti-nausea patch. We'll see what happens! :lookaroun

I'm just pointing out the extremely obvious. You're welcome.

As for the OP, I only have to read the laughable food poisoning thread to know how his opinions are formed. Disregarded.

It's not a roller coaster. It's somewhat hard to explain because it's the only ride like it in the world. You're basically sitting on a 4 across bench with a shoulder harness and your legs hang free. Your bench is attached to a robotic arm, which is attached to a track, and you are moving along the track at a constant speed. The ride track itself stays completely flat, but you on the arm will move up down and turn in tilt in every direction, but you will not go upside-down.

The ride travels through different show scenes, such as the forbidden forest, the chamber of secrets and such, but it also places you in front of large domes that include a film to simulate flights over Hogwarts and Quidditch. The ride vehicle is synced to the movement of the film and real sets. The ride let's you see a dragon, dementors, spiders and a full size whomping willow. It's a very interesting ride, and a breakthrough in ride technology.

Here's an awesome picture of one of the arms on the ride. This was taken with the lights on, and the arms moved and faced themselves forward during this downtime. The arm is usually not this "rigid" looking, but you still get an idea of what you're sitting in. They're huge! There's 46 of them along the track at one time.

The Forbidden Journey made me feel a lil dizzy after riding

Tbh I would have thought it would use more advanced technology for being a Universal ride.

What an awesome picture of the ride vehicle! I've wondered what they look like with the lights on. I absolutely loved this ride, it was totally worth the line to me.
