With EE comes AK full service dining?

Hello. I used the search function and couldn't find something on this: I remember a little while back that someone said that with the building of EE that a full service (aka sit down meal) restaurant was also being build in the vacinity of EE. Is this still the case? I have browsed all the construction photos, and ppl only ever mention the ride. I believe that animal kingdom greatly suffers from lack of full service dining (with the exception of the non-disney owned/quality Rainforest Cafe). So what's the deal? Can we expect this dining option soon?

original rumors were a Thai restaurant located in the new EE corner of the park. Thai food is widely accepted in the US to the point now I could see it fitting in with the rest of the resorts offerings. Also AKL does need a themed sitdown.

I think AK would need more then one sit-down. If they had only one, could you imagine the lines to get in (and making advanced reservations would be a nightmare).
Granted Tusker House and Flame Tree are some of the best counter service around....but sometimes people want a more relaxing meal where they dont have to fend for a table....lol.

And some of the best on property at that.

We have never eaten there or been to AKL. We just joned DVC so we will have the opportunity to check out some of the different places. We are going for two weeks at the end of November and probably again in spring 2006 when EE opens. I think we will try to eat at either or both of the two in the spring....

No restaurant of any kind is the plans for the Everest area right now. But if you sit in the tables at Flame Tree near the water, you will have a view of Everest.

And enjoy some of the best counter service on property! In fact, better than some of the full service restaurants.

It has been mentioned here that the reason that AK lacks sit-down restaurants is the fact that the Park closes so early. (5:30 & 6:30 respectfully)

They're hurting themselves by not building full service restaurants. I was just down there and even in July, discovered we were able to do virtually everything by noon. I just can't imagine spending an entire day at Animal Kingdom. But having reservations to a restaurant could sway people to spend more time there. Spending more time at AK = shopping more, eating more lunch, etc. As it is, with AK (at least with people i've gone with), it's always coupled with a later trip to EPCOT for dinner or to Downtown Disney. Doesn't matter how good the counter service is...people like to eat in a really nice restaurant. A Disney restaurant. (And AK Lodge isn't connected so any nice eateries they have are pretty moot.)

Of course, the big problem in response to this is how early the park closes most of the time. It rules out making reservations for after 6:00 p.m. most of the year, right? Thus, keeping such restaurants up and running would be difficult. I imagine Rainforest is open later since you can go in without entering the Kingdom.

DAK does have the best collection of quick-service food/restaurants on property. High quailty food that tastes great.

With Everest the park will most likely been to have some later nights. Eventualy the park will reach a point where it will be open late everynight similar to Epcot and the studios. Just give them time. Also the park almost never closes at a half hour. It is nearly always 5:00, 6:00, or 7:00.

I would think they would need a few more attractions before it gets to the 9 or 10pm closing. I would also guess that it likely will never have fireworks due to the close proximity of the animals? Maybe a really high quality laser light show heavily themed to the different countries represented in AK with allot of music, dance etc?

Except for Tuesdays, when they have EMH, the park is open until 10 pm.

Actually, I think you have that statement wrong. The park is open until 6 or 7, except when they have EMH, and then it's open until 9 or 10 depending on the day.

I say bring in Downtown Disney's never-built nighttime lake show: "Noah's Ark", they could put it in Discovery River.
