I would love to see the money go towards the Avatar land in the Animal kingdom. If Master Yoda's comment on a Star wars land to one day be added too then I would doubly vote on seeing the new lands vs. the Monorails. The Monorails are cool and love them and always have to ride them at least twice when at WDW. Now honestly I am a DWD guest at alest once a year except for the last two (Eldery Parent Health Issues) and always felt the transportaion to the parks, water parks & DTD has been really good and very fun and a pleasure to ride on. Busses, Boats and Monorail. We drive down from Southern NJ and once at the Resort love losing my car keys and letting Disney take over the driving and getting me to the parks. It makes it easy and relaxing for the most part that I do not have to drive and try and find my way around and then have to worry about parking and most important where did I park. Then I think about this a little more and that we park hop alot and adds on I have to get back to park X to get my car. Maybe after the new atractions are added in and completed, then maybe it's time to expand the Monorail. They are expensive and you also have to think of the up keep and maintenance on them since they will be used alot. The Monorail expansion is not a cheap under taking. They are fun and are a part of Disney for sure, but to have the parks expand is what it is all about IMHO.

I picked Avatarland over Monorail Expansion.

The first thing to look at is the cost. a Monorail Expansion is going to be more expensive than Avatarland.

The 2nd thing I look at is having a Monorail system that only connects 2 more parks, but not more resorts sounds like a waste. I am saying that because unless you stay at a Deluxe hotel that is on the Magic Kingdom Monorail line, you are not going to use it when the park closes, or when the parks first open.

The 3rd thing is AK needs more attractions badly rather it is rides or shows. Animal Kingdom lacks rides and Avatar land is part of the answer depending on how good the 2 ridesare . Animal Kingdom hasn't had a new ride since Expedition Everest officially opened in 2006. The fact is Disney and TDO didn't handle the park properly in terms of attractions. Animal Kingdom only has 7 rides including the Wildlife Express train.

The fact is Monorail isn't going to attract more gets to the Animal Kingdom if there isn't any new attractions to the park.

I guess I don't see the rationale behind not moving forward with the monorail expansion. Clearly money is NOT an option, given their going forward with Avatar land AND Star Wars land (possibly LOTR land as well) over at Hollywood Studios. Why not hold one of those projects in favor of improving WDW Resort transportation options?
Lord of the the Rings isn't even happening because Disney doesn't have an agreement with that franchise despite what one Disney website says and Disney themselves didn't even make a Lord of the rings announcement. There has been Lord of the Ring rumors in the past rather it is Disney or Universal, but nothing has happened in terms of using the franchise for theme park attractions.

Holding Avatar or Star Wars for a Monorail Expansion isn't wise because people wouldn't attract more people to go to AK or DHS.

Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios don't have great reputations in terms of amount time guests spend in the parks and doing a Monorail Expansion instead of fixing the 2 parks isn't doing Animal Kingdom or Disney Hollywood Studios any good in terms of amount of time a guest spends in AK and DHS.

Star Wars is needed to fix Disney Hollywood Studios and a Star Wars expansion can't be hold up since Universal wants guests to spend more days in their parks and that means it does at another theme park's expense with one of them being Walt Disney Wold. Disney Hollywood Studios has a lot or problems currently including only 6 rides in the park and needs more things to do.

Animal Kingdom can't afford to have Avatarland on hold because the park because the amount things for a guest to do is a problem with a theme park that is 15 years old, but hasn't had an attraction officially open since 2006. That means Animal Kingdom is underdeveloped and that means the park isn't a full day park for some people.

Avatar-land. James Cameron prides himself and anything that bears his name on being nothing but the best. Expansive monorails from Disney just means expansive problems -- in other words, it would just more of the same mess we're dealing with now.

No, not necessarily. Some things stay as relative fixtures in pop culture....Star Wars being one of them. I'm not so sure Pandora and Avatar will have that kind of endurance.
agreed, but we'll have to see how the impact of a new trilogy of Pandora films affects this or whether it was a "one-hit-wonder"

Avatar? What's that?
I'm just kidding, but Avatar was kinda a one hit wonder
If we were talking Star Wars land, I'd be all over that, I just think in this case a monorail expansion would be better than Pandora. Animal Kingdom needs some revamp though. All of the parks do (IMO DHS needs it more though)

The second one needs to actually fail before it can be determined to be a one hit wonder. Just saying...

Avatar-Land will be a huge success.

I doubt we will ever see any kind of monorail expansion ever in the near or distant future as its just not practical. If it was going to happen it would have happened during Eisners watch.

As others have stated, Avatar is not in the public's mind on a regular basis. HP and SW are and I still hear people quoting lines from those two franchises on a fairly consistent basis.

"No. I am your father." >>>>>>> "I see you."

In fact "I see you" sounds more like a line from a stalker horror movie.

As much as I would like more rides (bring on Star Wars Land, I say!), I loathe and despise the Disney bus system more than I can express, and would love to see a monorail expansion. It was probably just a bad experience during my honeymoon trip but argh, the busses made me want to tear my hair out. They were THAT bad and we constantly heard guests complaining about them (well that and getting stuck on Splash Mountain or PoTC ;-) )

No monorail expansion? OK. I'd really like an alternate route to AK, even if not a monorail. It's just not magical. 0 interest in Avatar. I doubt I'll even visit once open.
