Wishes or Illuminations?

Was talking to a guest the other day and she asked me which is better.. Wishes or Illuminations, since she has never seen either and I said Wishes immediately. She said she was counting the votes and had 4 for Illuminations and I was the first to vote Wishes. Total shocker to me!! I've seen Wishes many many times and have yet to be tired of it.. on the other hand, I've only seen Illuminations once and got bored :eek:

So what do you guys think, Wishes or Illuminations?

While some of it is that I like an older version of Illuminations a bit better...I saw Wishes and have never had that strong a reaction to a show. I think I got misty in at least 5 spots that first time...and while I initially thought it was b/c I was so exhausted (roller coaster of a day), I knew it was the show when i saw it for the 2nd time - totally relaxed- and still tearing up. Not sure how many times I've seen it to date, but it still gets me every single time... even watching YouTube vids of it gets me.

I totally get the same feeling! I'd give up any attraction at Disney to see 'Wishes" live. When I'm desperate, I go on Youtube and watch it in full screen HD.

I do the same thing at work...and often end up in tears at my desk! :oops: Rather than buy the official soundtrack, I downloaded a podcast of it to my ipod so that I have a recording where you can hear the crowd and the booms from the shells going off.

They are two totally different firework displays, IMO. One tries to hit you in a more subtle, cozy, and magical feeling. The other tries to hit you with a BANG! And let me tell you, they both do their job well. To me it's like comparing apples to oranges, but my answer would be Wishes. It puts a smile on your face from the first time the little girl sings "Starlight, star bright." Illuminations does give you an incredible WOW factor, but I have to give the edge to Wishes.
