o_OWell I'm thirty days out and have had my plans set since 180 days. Looking at the finances I think I can swing the dessert party but of course no times available on my dates. Anyone have any experience with just walking up on the day and seeing if there is any openings?? Or cancellations?? Will keep checking the website. What are my chances?

Last year, we called and told, there was no availability for our time frame, I checked online the following day and was able to make ressies. Keep checking Disney.com a couple times a day! Good luck!

There is never walk-up availability. But, as others have said, keep checking. You may get lucky, especially if you have a smaller party.

As I understand it, special events holds onto those reservations until a time where they believe that it will not be booked in its entirety by private party. When that happens, they release them to dining and it can be booked by regular people like you and me. When that happen is really anyone's guess, but it typically seems to be somewhere between 90-30 days out.

All you can really do is keep trying, as they book up quick when they are released.

This is no longer accurate. The Wishes Dessert Party is now available 180 days out like everything else (just found a table for 12/14/14, which is exactly 180 days away).

I 'wishes' I could do it, but it seems to go quickly. But keep trying, as Disney is cracking down on those folks making multiple ADRs for each day - you might just pick up a cancelled ADR.

Except it's still not perfect. November and December haven't opened exactly at 180 days as they should (I've called almost every day of the past 1.5-2 months). They also aren't opening first thing in the morning; I called one morning to check on a certain date, and found it hadn't been released. I called the next morning for that same date, to find it had sold out; they had released it in the afternoon the day before. It's getting better, but they're still not releasing them dependably.

As for finding a spot 30 days from now, just be persistent and check all throughout the day! If there's a cancellation, you might just catch it.

cancellations have to be made 5 days out... they do not normally take anyone at the podium because I don't think they have a way of accepting money, they have a list and a podium... we weren't sure what days we would want to do it so I booked it three times for our trip in nov... I actually think we will go 3 times this year we love it ... so do the kids.. but if we don't cancel away we will lol... so just try looking you never know... also look 24 hours before... rules were made to be broken and Disney does make exceptions... look all day the day of on the app... we got ressies that way one year too

Can someone fill me in more on what exactly the dessert party is? I know there's dessert and a reserved area for viewing the fireworks. I just made an 8:45 pm reservation for my trip in December and want to know more about it so I can be sure that I want to keep my reservation.

It is a reserved area in tomorrow land terrace where there are tables and a pretty good view of the castle and the fireworks. The desserts are quite good too. We really loved going. Definitely a calm and fun way to end the evening and watch the fireworks. No jockeying for position and then waiting in a crowd. It is covered, at least partially, incase it lightly rains. If there are heavy rains, I know they can cancel the fireworks. Not sure what happens then.

We booked for our august trip, but depending on what fast passes we book, we may have to cancel (if we find ourselves in a different park!)

Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party is the ONLY reservation I haven't gotten that I wanted for our Christmas trip. I have been calling for months. I have been trying for a 12/30 for five adults for the *late* dessert party. I have to call every time because the date is grayed out on the calendar online. I'd say about 75 percent of the time when I call the dining reservations line the CM will say, there is only one dessert party per night, and I have to say, well, I'm fairly sure there are two because it is NYE (night before dress rehearsal). Many times I feel like they do not even know what I am talking about and just say, no, there is no availability. Is there a *special* number anyone has called or any special trick? I realize it is likely full, but I am not giving up on cancellations. I just feel there's got to be something I'm missing. TIA!
