WISHES DESSERT BUFFET

I first found out about the Wishes Dessert Buffet at Tomorrowland Terrace right before my last WDW visit last September. I tried to get a reservation for it then, but they were all booked. I decided that for my next WDW trip, the first thing I would do was make reservations for the Wishes Dessert Buffet. A couple of weeks ago I booked a visit for this coming September. Right after I did my booking, I was on the Disney World web site and tried to make a reservation on the dining reservation page. The Wishes Dessert Buffet was on of the choices that came up, but it kept telling me nothing was available. A few days later, I phoned in to Disney World to see if a person could help me. The person who tried to help me said that the system would not let her make reservations for it. She thought I might be too far in advance. I thanked her and said I would try the web site again, periodically, to try myself. I have tried several times with no luck. Out of curiosity, I tried to make a reservation for the Wished Dessert Buffet in June, July and August. No luck - whatever date I tried, the result was the same - NO TABLES AVAILABLE. Can anyone tell me if this is something that Disney has discontinued?

Thanks...

For what it's worth, I'm (kind of) glad that we did it once, but I wouldn't do it again. Between the cost, the wait, the crowding for good viewing positions, and the utter lipid and sugar overload, it really was not worth it in my view. The deserts were good, but not great--too much, too numerous and too... common.

However, getting reservations is brutal. I don't believe the website works at all. AKL concierge could not get us reservations. I had to call over and over again, and I'm not sure that they have a defined timeframe when they open reservations for that event. I would start trying in earnest about 60 days out from your desired date.

You can now make the Wishes Party 180 days out. They changed it about 18 months ago. It use to be 60 days, but they finally put it on the same schedule as all the ADRs.

I was able to book this for my wife and I when we went last October (2013). Everything I read said those reservations open up 60 days in advance and advised calling and trying the website as one sometimes opens before the other. That would have placed our booking window around the beginning of August. I periodically checked before that and was concerned because every time I went in, it said "no tables available" for our time frame. I was able to back track and find dates that had been opened already and it seemed to confirm the 60 days in advance thing. Starting around the beginning of August, I checked the website a couple of times a day every day and caught it when it opened up. I actually messaged a friend who was planning on being there at the same time we were that they were open; she called within an hour of me booking and was told they didn't appear to be open yet, which seems to confirm differences between the website and calling. As for it changing to 180 days out, I don't know. As of last August (10 mos ago), it was still opening up at 60 days out.

All that being said, I have to agree with Docandsix regarding its value. It was neat to have done once, but I think it was way over-priced for the quality of desserts you got. The viewing position is great, but there's plenty of other places in the park where you can get a great view for no additional cost.

I have did it once but honestly - I would not be mad about missing it. If you are into sugar then I say go for it. But for the price you can get a better viewing location on your own then apply that money elsewhere.

Completely agree with previous posters. IMO, it's not worth the money. You don't have a good view from every table, so even if you get a decent view, those in the back, stand by the railing. It just wasn't as good as all the popularity made it out to be.

I agree. We have done the Wishes dessert party twice-once the first year it came out then last year. Nothing had changed; they had the same desserts. I like watching the fireworks behind the castle, or on the fourth floor at Contemporary (especially the bridge to Bay Lake Tower then you could see the Electrical Water Pageant). Essentially I am saying the dessert party isn't worth the price or crowds.

We personally really enjoy this! We booked for September 22 about a month ago. It's pretty popular and sells out fast!

If you really want to do it, start stalking the website for a reservation. As you can see, these kinds of things are very popular, but people do cancel from time to time. Best stalking time is usually the last couple of weeks before travel.

We've done it...it wasn't bad, but not sure I'd do it again as I don't love that angle for the view. Most of the desserts were meh, but there were a few...like the mango shooters...that I could have eaten in mass quantities. Plus, it's nice to see Wishes without fighting the crowds.
