I think that if a big neon sign lured you in like flies only for them to take your money at the door and heard you into cattle pens- then THAT would be marketing.
However, why do we all love Disney?? Because they're obviously doing something right to make us happy and set them apart from the other places!
Any Disney lover out there- I don't care what the "purpose" of the celebration is, but you've gotta admit that you just love the huge, bright, colorful signs, no matter how corny they may really be. But it is that larger-than-life theming and decoration that makes WDW so special and exciting- seeing new things and new decorations on each trip.
You can call the "celebration" an excuse or whatever, but one thing that I can truly appreciate about "Magical Gatherings" is that it is not focusing on Disney, Mickey's birthday or a Theme Park- it is for the guests. And if there's a theme based on customer celebration and satisfaction, then I am all for it.
As for "Wishes", I can't wait to see it. Disney has always blown me away with their fireworks shows. Illuminations can bring a tear to my eye. I look forward to seeing Fantasmic (been there since it's existed, but I've never seen it.) And "Wishes" sounds like a spectacular show that will be sure to add some zest to the MK at night.
My next trip surely won't include 8 or more, but the four of us should be able to appreciate the celebration of the "good ole' days" when we used to travel down as a group of ten or more. To all who have the opportunity to travel as a large group- enjoy!
