I have read reviews saying it is self-referential. I definitely did not want that in a Disney original. That is what Enchanted and to some degree Tangled and Frozen shorts have done. I don't want something that parodies. I want something oringal that does not have to reference or share a universe. Interesting.

The references are tributes, not parodies, although I do think some of the references felt a bit shore-horned in.

Still, my main issue with the film is that it didn't really bring anything new to the table from a storytelling perspective.

It also lost money this quarter when 0 production costs

Quite a feat

Well no, if they filed zero programming and production costs last quarter they would have made 3.5+ billion.

Programming and Production is amortized to the shows release dates in part, the partial industry stoppage didn't measurably impact last quarter's production costs filed against D+ earnings. In fact, those costs went up slightly.

But again, we are apparently supposed to both pretend that D+ doesn't pay for its content + doesn't make significant revenue; while also losing money because it does in fact pay quite handsomely for its content.

This is getting worse! Now I don’t know if I’ll be

I’m sorry. I’m just shocked and very upset. I just pray and hope it’s a box office success.
It honestly doesn't matter what critics say, it only matters what the audience will say.

In the end it will do whatever its going to do at the box office. That in the end does not determine if its a quality movie or not, nor whether you will enjoy it or not.

Just go enjoy the movie and forget about the box office.

Rolling into the big Thanksgiving holiday week, when many schools now have the entire week off nowadays (not fair!), Wish is now at a 55% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The looks on the goat and the girl seem fitting at this point.

It is the 100th Anniversary special after all. Maybe if it went into a full-blown Once Upon a Studio multiverse it would have made more sense?

No…we’re told to believe it AMAZINGLY has outpaced subs for 4 years and can’t get all that close to getting its head above water…

So how does it make money? Ads?

Lol…that’s cable…what a brilliant idea by 1980’s Bob 😎

To be fair…everyone in Hollywood is crazy about that one

…Disney cannot continue to bomb movies. It just cannot

What’s funny is when it’s at the box office…group think is not “ok”…

…but at parks…buying bad products that has already lead to a near crisis in Orlando with group think is adamantly defended.

…truly ironic

Or what? The overall company continues to be profitable, held up primarily by Parks as you know. So really what is going to happen? Besides maybe a management shake up, which you want anyways. Its not like the company is going to go out of business.

So stop with this vague melodrama stance. As much as overall we fans don't want it, the company can actually handle a year or more of not so stellar box office returns. They have actually been worse off in their long history than now.

Anyways, lets get back to Wish.

Movies feed the profit pipeline…where is the money made?

Anyway…wish looks like an underperforming…but let’s see how it does?

I honestly do not fathom how a Disney princess can be so rotten. It's their trademark and the trailers and promos have seened, while not incredibly flashy, cute and colorful enough. I mean.....how does this even happen? This feels incredibly surreal in a very bad way.

I don’t think it’s “cultural backlash”…at least I didn’t…

But it’s looking pretty compelling at this point.
