Wish I was Def when I heard these 2 covers...

Ok...don't know if anyone has heard them...but...recently there have been covers done of two Def Leppard songs...I for one like Def Leppard (yes I know, odd isn't it??? I still like the old and I even enjoy the newer stuff)

Mariah Carey - Bringing on the Heartbreak
QED - Love Bites

1. Mariah Carey singing one of Def Leppard's best (although sorta "hidden" at first) songs is just WRONG
2. Love Bites by QED is a dancy remix song...whazzup with that??? Should've renamed it to be "This Song Bites"

I heard the Mariah Carey one, and I wanted to shoot myself. She turned a great song into 4 minutes of absolute agony.

Oh just wait..... the Ataris did a wanna-be punk cover of Brian Adam's "Boys of Summer"... its a bit nmore catchy and sorta well done but still... its Brian Adams for christs sakes.

Actually..its a don henley song...i wanted to cover it for my band..they beat me to it.

Not if its the same as over here. Their follow up is definately "im in heaven" a Brian Adams song. And yes its another classic toon ruined.

Worst cover ever has got to be the sampled version of freebird and that Frampton song!!

There are four bazillion dance covers out right now. It's some kind of epidemic. My favorite is the cover of "Don't Fear The Reaper".

Nope..heaven was covered by Kelly Clarkston of American Idol Fame (thats the brian adams song)..The Ataris did the punk cover of "Boys of summer".

The Dance/sample version of Freebird/Frampton you are referring to is by a group called "Will 2 Power"..the song is from the 80s...I know one of the guys in that group personally :x The video was worse than the song itself..trust me..

have just been told its actually DJ Sammy that murders Heaven and Boys of summer here. Just uses pretty faced unknown singers to do his dastardly deeds.

The version i was working on did "I saw a deadstar sticker on a cadillac"...it was so hot..*sigh* but alas..wont ever be finished now.

Know how you feel, three years ago some ageing metal fans would play covers for fun wherever they would tolerate us, we had a damn fine metal version of "Tainted Love" a theme now made famous by a certain Manson and Im not talking about my fellow Scot Shirley.

Either way, its still a "wanna-be" punk cover. Its not really punk. Real punk rockers dont wear abacrappy. Real punkers dont listen to don henley.

Pumbas, i will take Shirley Manson over Marylin any day of the week.

Bringing on the Heartbreak is my favorite song in the entire Def Leppard catalog. I dread a Mariah Carey remake. Ugh.

I prefer the Atari's rendition of Boys of Summer over Henley's. I've always liked the Henley version, but I think they've improved on it.

Worst remakes of all time? Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton doing their "tired old man" versions of Born to Run and Layla, respectively. Those songs were never meant to be played slow!

Oh, and Shirley Manson rules. That is all.

My 2 cents

I am still in the I Love Def Leppard and Tesla mindsight and people think I am crazy. Yes, we won't date me with saying how old I was when I went to every one of their concerts here. Some bands and songs I feel should never be covered because they can not get any better. Then there are those that are begging to be covered and done right.

NowInc...would love to hear some of yours.

You think your old, I can remember The Lepps opening for AC/DC And I was there for their first ever headline tour. Class even then.
