Winning a trip to Disney World....happened to you?

No
They offered it where I interned last summer. I didn't apply for it (even though a few interns did win) because I already had plans, I had a longest trip planned a few weeks later, and honestly have no desire to fight New Years Eve crowds. But it was a cool offer.

Our family won a trip through the Downtown Disney Resort Hotel's A+ Teachers contest in 2011. It contained round trip airfare for us as well as her teacher and her family, 3 nights at the Hilton Downtown, one day park tickets, and Disney Quest tickets. It was amazing!

While I didn't win a trip, My Mom won a free trip to WDW for 5 days, 4 nights back in the early 1990's when I almost completed 6th grade at the time. She won the trip from a local radio station in a drawing that was for a Mother's Day Contest. The free trip included included free airfare, free transportation from airport to Yacht and Beach Club, Free stay at Yacht Beach Club, Free Park Admission, 3 free table service meals a day that included not paying for tips for a family for 4.

It was great experience that we had to go back the year after She won the trip.

What we did at the time for planning was do research on WDW by taking advantage of books or videos available at the time, since the Internet didn't exist at the time the trip was won for the general public. We did research because My Mom was the only family that went there and she went there before construction at Epcot ever.

That was the only planning at the time besides bringing along money for merchandise at the time because WDW didn't have ADR's or my magic plus at the time.

I won a Limited Time Magic contest to tour Cinderella's Castle and Be Our Guest. One week out I had to ask my supervisor, "Um. I realize I just got back from WDW recently but I won a contest to tour Cinderella's Castle and Be Our Guest THIS Friday. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY would like to go. NO ONE gets to tour the castle." Of course, he said yes. I put myself up at the Best Western in LBV.

I toured it many years ago without winning a contest. Just knew the right person.

The only contest I've ever won was one here on WDWMagic about 10 years ago and I got a couple nights at the Dolphin and dinner at Shula's. It was awesome.

My family won THREE free Walt Disney World trips through radio station contests. The first trip was in February 1982 during WDW's 10th anniversary. The following year in February 1983 my family won again marking the opening of EPCOT Center.

The third and final trip free trip took place in July-August 1990 right around the time Iraq invaded Kuwait. My family extended our stay so we moved from the Disney Inn to the Swan.

Sorry for the long delay! The audit process for the contest took over a month. I just received the email which allows me to choose the prize package. Among other options i have including a Rolex, other merch., other trips, I am going for the Disney trip of course! It will be 4 days 3 nights, airfaire, park tix for 3 days, stay at animal kingdom lodge, and a Disney dining plan, all for 4 people, includes everything! I have until August 2016 to travel, and am SO excited! We are trying to formulate a strategy since we usually go for 7 days! My thoughts are to go the 2nd weekend in October, that way we can do both the MNSSHP, AND F&W. That way we maximize our time there, and we have never done either before! The only downside (not really) is that, like any winnings, I will be taxed at the end of the year. Anyone wish to guess the value I'll be taxed on? Either way, really happy, and can't wait to start planning!!!
