Wine, beer, snacks, sundries in WDW?

Does anyone know where you can buy wine, beer, snacks, and sundries in WDW? If you don't have a car, and want to use only Disney transportation, where can you get this stuff?

I know that this sort of thing is available in the Concourse Spirits and Sundries shop in the Contemporary Resort (at least it was years ago). Do any other resorts (or other locations like DTD, for example) have a place where you can buy this sort of thing? (Sort of like an on-property convenience store)

Polyman is right - all the resorts have them but be warned - they're VERY expensive. A six pack of beer will cost you more than a case would outside of the World. If you aren't doing the new transportation service from Disney - try a limo service - for about $85, they will stop at the grocery store free and you can pick up beer, wine and water-which will cost you $3.00 on site, and snacks which will leave you more money for on-site meals and souvenirs! We've done this the last several trips and it's saved us a lot. We usually buy breakfast bars too, wake up, grab a quick snack and head out. We take 3 or 4 water bottles with us every day and usually go through a case easily by the time we're done with our vacation. The good thing about spring water - it tastes good even when it's warm. Or we also have taken a Brita bottle with us (the kind with the filter), they actually make any of the water taste pretty good - they're just kind of big to carry around - larger than a regular sized water bottle so they don't fit in a bottle holder very well.

This sounds bad but we've actually carried alcohol on board in our carry-on - as long as it's sealed, they don't care. One year we carried a 12 pack of beer and a bottle - I believe they want the bottle to be plastic - no glass - which makes it difficult with wine - hey you could buy the box kind!

Also, any medicines are very expensive on-site. We always bring tylenol, etc. but last year my son had a little problem and we had to buy Imodium on-site - it cost $8.95 for 6 tablets! A little sticker shock! Unfortunately, we had to have it.

You are so right. I always bring a kit with tylenol, motrin, immodium, pepcid, kids cold medicine (we always seem to use this), bandaids and stuff for swimmers ear.

A better deal than a cab: Take a bus to DTD, from the north east corner you can walk to Goodings grocery in the Cross Roads mall just east of the LBV entrance. Things might be a bit more than a store back home, but they're a lot cheaper than on property.

The walk, I guess, is around a mile along a shady sidewalk. We've done it in about 15 minutes each way.

Does anyone know if the same item is more expensive in the shops at the higher-priced resorts? Or is the same item the same price everywhere?

We stayed at ASM last June and the prices were very high, I would guess they would be about the same at all the resorts. I would look at doing the town car with a stop, or a quick cab ride off site, if you need a lot of items. Something else would be to ship yourself a package before you leave, of snacks and such (I don't think you can ship beer or other adult type beverages).

There's also a gas station right across from Downtown Disney (BP, I think) It's about 10 steps from DTD Westside... we got some bread ($2) a 12-pack of Coke ($5) and a 12 pack of Bud Light ($12) and some chips ($3) - overpriced for our local grocery store - but great compared to WDW prices... and we just walked back across the street and jumped on a bus back to our hotel - didn't have to carry them far at all. Much cheaper than the hotels... and pretty convenient as well!

For those of us who might be renting and a car and want to stop for supplies where is a good place, not far off the beaten path, between the airport and WDW? I dont want to have to drive for a couple of miles to find a Walmart but just an easy grocery. Maybe the one that was mentioned above. Where is that specifically?

Goodings supermarket is located in the Crossroads on route 535 and LBV hotel drive, right off of I-4 west on the way to WDW. The exit off I-4 is the LBV/535 exit, bear to the right on the exit ramp, making a right turn onto 535 and at the next traffic light you make a right turn into the crossroads right by the McDonald's.

If you are coming from the airport, there is a Walmart right on the way to WDW you could stop. I know it is right off the bee-line expressway, I have to do a little research on it and will get back with some directions. I think it is the one on John Young Parkway, but can't recall the cross street/route #, but know there is a Hess gas station, Lowe's hardware store and Beall's department store in the plaza.

We/ve stayed at all the Moderates and the 3 Monorail hotels. The alcohol, pop, sundries etc. were the same price when purchased at these resorts. IMHO, taking a limo from the airport when you arrive and scheduling the free grocery stop is the way to go. The price may have gone up but a few years ago we got a refrigerator for $10 a night at the Contemporary and kept our water and pop and beer cold. Well worth the money to be able to come back to the room and be able to grab a cold one.

As others have stated, a cab ride to Goodings, or even the nearby Publix will be cheaper then purchasing at your resort, but all resorts do stock these goodies at the same prices. Also as of this year, all Moderate and Deluxe resorts have refrigerators for free (value resorts still charge $10 per night.)

In September and prior to that, you could get decent wines like Beringer and others in the resort shops. Though it was a tiny bottle, it was a glass worth. Anyway, this past trip in February they have switched brands to something I was not familiar with and the bottles were double the price and double the size. It was disappointing because I did not want that much wine, but had to buy that size because it was all they had. Also, I liked to have fell out when it was $9 for a "double mini" bottle. I definitely suggest bringing your own next time. I am bringing my large bottle of Bailey's from home next time. The tiny little bottles were too much and I would love to have it in my coffee while I am there.

Been looking for a thread like this.

Do any of you know the anwser to this question - To get around the whole store tripping and high prices,

Would Disney allow grocery store deliveries to its resorts?

I'll be staying at AK in august and I use albertsons.com and safeway.com to deliver my food purchases when i order for my job ... its $10 for delievery charges plus on top of your grocery cost and they don't accept tips. i would love to use these stores (if they are in orlando florida, that's what i will search when i finish posting this post) or any other store's delivery service to bring food to me (i dont' mind meeting them curbside if they aren't allowed to the room floors).

(how about pizza and other foods delivery? i'll be going to look for that thread too.

There are Albertson stores in Florida, but I don't know about Safeway. There aren't any in Tampa, but I suppose there could be in Orlando. I've never heard of Albertson's doing deliveries though. And I don't know about delivery to resorts in general. Just know that Albertson's does exist here in FL.

Yes, you can have the supermarket deliver to the resorts. I know Goodings does and you can order on their website. I know there are Albertson's in the area, but don't know if they deliver, but if they do they'd be less expensive than Goodings. I've never seen a Safeway in the Orlando area, so really don't think there are any.

Goodings is over priced and I would recommend Albertson's over Goodings if the service is available. I dont know if there is a Safeway. Publix is the other big grocery store in FL.
