Especially Troy McClure! They should do a gag on the show (maybe they already have) where it's revealed that no one in Springfield has ever heard of the word "chin" and...in fact... it doesn't even exist in the dictionary in their world.
A lot of people I know watch the reruns on FX. I think it got a big re-surge in popularity due to those reruns and some recent memes.Does anyone even watch the Simpsons on a regular basis anymore?
The Simpsons, in its prime, was a wonderful show. I imagine it's still better than most prime time television, but I haven't watched it in a long time.
But despite being a smart and funny show with some great characters, Matt Groening's Springfield is a dismal, cynical world and the character designs are intentionally ugly. None of this belongs in any current Disney park. Ok, maybe either of the two studio parks...
For me, I always felt this was supposed to be Doug McClure, an actor I liked as a kid in a show called Search with Burgess Meredith. He was one of 3 rotating spies on this show and you may remember him from movies like Terror in the Sky or Hell Hounds of Alaska.
You may remember Doug McClure from movies like SST: Death Flight or Humanoids from the Deep!
You mean replace Mr. Toad with one black and white room repeated over and over with no change in artwork and then an unfunny punch line at the exit?A Life in Hell dark ride would be great replacement for Mr. Toad.
It seems like Universal no longer wants to replace beloved IPs with new ones.

That's not any better.
Fixed that for youI would welcome a futurama ride to replace star tours
While I agree the most important question is whether Disney actually wants to use the Simpsons, I think the style of humor is only a secondary concern.I guess the real question is, does Disney want the Simpsons in a Disney park? They seem very anti-Disney and suited for Universal in the first place.
Do the old episodes hold up? I'm not really a fan, but my understanding is that many of the jokes are topical and timely rather than evergreen.
What about seasons 15-30? Yuck!Seasons 4-8 are still fantastic, with not too many dates jokes. 9 and 10 have their moments too.
