Will they actually get rid of Paradise Pier at DCA?

Wait, what do you mean? I doubt that California Screamin' is a standard coaster sold by a company to different theme parks....

I was shocked when I was told that - and by someone in management so it's credible. I think Disney added the audio, but the track itself was pre-fab.

But very few castmembers actually are correct on such things. Even though he was a manager, most supervisors in the parks don't know much more than you or I.

Screamin' is apparently off the shelf as well. :-\

That design may be available for purchase by other folks if they're interested, much the same way Vekoma sold a clone of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but it is not a turn-key ride by any means. It was designed for Disney; for that park, even. Though it may be 'off the shelf' now, it certainly was not when it was built.

Pixar invasion?

Pixar IS Disney.

Get used to it people.
Whoa whoa whoa!
I'm not saying that. All I was saying was that I don't think the answer to fixing that portion of the park is to add a barrage of Pixar "stuff." I know that Pixar is owned by WDC and am happy that they now can operate with such a talented and classy computer animation studio.

I don't think it really takes "getting used to" as you so eloquently put it.

The good news is that changes are coming. According to that well-known Debbie Downer (aka Al Lutz) Midway Mania is next in DCA, and sounds like a lot of fun! I think DCA has a lot of potential to be a worthy companion to our beloved Disneyland - with faith, trust, the *magic* of pixie dust, and a good, solid kick in the rear by John Lasseter.

I felt the theme to Paradise Pier was Nostalgia of old time Connie (sp) Island style ausment parks. Those kinds of places mean alot to some people and I felt the theme was to bring people back to a simpler time in Amusment park history but with the safty and innovation of Disney Not to mention that there are plenty of people that arn't into the elaborate theme park concept and just want a Roller Coaster or just want a Ferris Wheel and Disney's providing for them.
and by the way, who's John Lasseter?

I just can't be live how many people hate Paradise Pier! That is easily my Favorite part of the park! I went to Disneyland in the summer of 05 and spent a good time in that section of the park. Also my family had to drive back from Universal on our last Saturday in Ca. so that we could see Fantasmic and the electrical light parade. Instead of spending time in DL before the parade we decided we wanted to spend the majority of our time left in PP on the Sun Wheel, Maliboomer, and CS ext. ext. It saddens me to see how people just cant sit back and have fun anymore!

THANK YOU! I'm glad SOMEONE said it. It's amazing how everyone overthinks everything now. It's a PARK! With all this overthinking, it's amazing anyone can enjoy ANYTHING Disney does anymore. Disney has alot of people to appeal, not just the old crowd that thinks everything should be like Mr. Toad or Pirates.

A dark ride in Paradise Pier?

Construction has started on 'Midway Mania' in Paradise Pier... this state of the art interactive dark ride doesn't really fit the old amusement style theme of Paradise Pier. Perhaps this is a hint that they're going to re-theme the area?

The ride doesn't open until 2008 so it gives them a couple of years.

I don't mind the theme either way, but I don't think it's the best Disney themeing I've seen. Grizzly River Run is a different story though. Overall, great park. :) Although living in Australia ANY Disney park is awesome!

People who don't give it a chance are missing out. The park is superb in my opinion! :D

Actually, the name says it all: Midway Mania. A midway is a classic part of the old amusement parks. Although it is an "interactive dark ride" the dark ride concept has been around for years in Amusement parks, and it is rumored that the ride will be themed with classic carnival style shooting games/amusement park attractions. :)

Here, here!! And I like that I can get cocktailed then go on rollercoasters or ToT. Or pop into the Grand for a glass of wine. And the CMs seem a lot happier there too.
