Will there be AP Room Discounts for October 2014?

Is anyone aware of any passholder discounts (or public) after 9/27? Specifically for October 2014? I see a lot of the Epcot resorts are booked and coronado springs is too during the Thursdays - Mondays I am looking at.

I didn't have this problem last year and I recall booking in August with an AP rate. Could it be some rooms are blocked off at these resorts until the new promotion?

From historical data I am thinking early August something will be announced but I am just concerned that a lot of resorts are booked up when looking online.

Any help would be appreciated!

Discounts exist solely to book up unoccupied rooms. If Disney can book them at an un-discounted rate, why would they set aside rooms specifically to book them for less money at a later time?

While some rooms do get blocked off at some resorts for things like conventions (those blocks do get released back into inventory after the booking deadline set with the convention organizers), if a room isn't available now it's highly unlikely a discount will be offered for that resort.

This exactly!!! They key to getting a discount is to stay as flexible as you can within your resort choices and your travel dates if you can. Also booking a room at full rate does NOT guarantee you that same room, resort or dates if a discount is released. If there is the same room it is an easy exchange of your room for a discounted rate one. If there are not enough rooms open at a particular resort, that resort may not be included in the discount offer at all. For example this year both sides of Port Orleans were not included in the Free Dining offer. This is the first time I have ever seen Riverside excluded. Hope this is helpful! Marie

I understand all of this but I was wondering why even at rack rate a lot of the resorts were already booked and I heard that they are having hard time filling them. Even the club level rooms were gone. I remember more availability last year and wondered what the difference might be especially without a passholder discount available at the moment for the dates I was looking at. A discount would be nice but if I can't get one then I will go the moderate or value route but I'm concerned they are selling out fast. I was surprised that both port Orleans were not included. That was one I wanted to try as I never stayed there (stayed at riverside when it was Dixie landings but barely remember it) and last I checked it still was available at rack rate so I still have that option.

Hey Jess, As a nice alternate, if and when the discounts come out, see if Coronado Springs has any business class rooms that fit your needs. It is kind of like Club level light. There is a lounge with a continental breakfast and appetizers, snacks and beverages for the evening. There is not a dedicated staff to assist you and the lounge is not open most of the day like the regular Club Level but it is a nice step up in the Moderate level. I did it for my trip in May and it was really pretty nice!!! Marie

Thank you, I will definitely be looking into that as I do like that resort!
