Will the river boat in the Princess and the Frog Trailer be the Mark Twain???

Is that the Mark Twain Riverboat???

  • Yes, and that's at least as cool as Tomorrowland in Meet the Robinsons.

Is that the Mark Twain from WDW???

I would not be shocked if it was when we see the back in the film.

Well, the WDW river boat is the Liberty Belle, which is a much more possible name, considering people probably wouldn't have named a river boat after someone who is still alive in the time period.

That's not WDW's Liberty Belle in the clip, but it's not really the Mark Twain from Disneyland either. Although, it's closer to the Mark Twain than it is the Liberty Belle.

There are many differences between the two, but an easy way to tell them apart in a split second is that the Liberty Belle has just one smokestack.

The Mark Twain (and the riverboat in Princess and the Frog) has two smokestacks.

But the boat in the movie clip has a lot of differences between it and the boats in the Disney Parks; enclosed cabins on all three decks, a rounded bow, lack of a bowsprit, etc.

That said, since the Mark Twain sails past New Orleans Square at Disneyland, they'd be stupid not to do some sort of event or show on the Mark Twain for Princess and the Frog. I imagine the folks from the Studios drove down to Anaheim from Burbank to take a look at New Orleans Square and the Mark Twain, to see what could be incorporated into the movie, and vice versa.

I don't know but definitely a tie in with a certain moderate resort that shall remain nameless.

According to Al Lutz on Miceage today they are doing a riverboat show and parade a few times per day in New Orleans Square this Christmas for The Princess and the Frog. It's called "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee", and the Mark Twain Riverboat features prominently in the show.

Apparently John Lasseter sent the animators down to Disneyland on field trips to check out New Orleans Square and the Mark Twain while they were creating the movie a few years ago.

No word yet on what WDW will be doing for the movie. But a tie-in with one of the WDW parks will be more difficult because there is no New Orleans Square area there.
