According to the Orlando Business Journal, Orlando is vying for the opportunity to host Star Wars Celebration V, a fan convention that could bring as many as 30,000 tourists to town for the 2010 festival. While not confirmed by Lucasfilm (George Lucas' production company) other cities mentioned as being in contention for the festival are Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Baltimore.

The four-day fan gathering, which would include displays of artifacts and guest speakers from the Star Wars films, would have an estimated financial impact of $36 million. The convention would appear to be a perfect fit for Orlando, as Disney's Hollywood Studios hosts the very popular Star Wars Weekends every summer

Holy cow, why wouldn't they wait until the 2012 Star Wars Weekends period, when Star Tours II will be open?! :brick:

Went to Celebration 2 and 3 in Indianapolis when it was here. It was pretty good with all the props and actors who appeared. I will say at the time Indy's convention Center was cramped so Orlando's would be great for space however Indy blew up the Hoosier(never could call it RCA after the name change) Dome and is expanding the Convention Center and it will attach to the new Lucas Oil Stadium so size wouldnt matter much next time.
