  • Agents of Shield
  • Doctor Strange
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (possibly excluding Drax)
  • The Defenders
  • Shang-Chi

Too late for that. Disney already considered it...

Since some of you were wondering what is on the table and what isn't, here's the latest update from a friend. Take it with a grain of salt, but this particular source has been mostly accurate in the past.

Status of Active Projects

Epcot:

Wakanda - Infinitely Delayed, then talked about again recently. Not sure on status now

Would love to see Marvel characters in the WDW parks as well, especially Shang-Chi! Though isn't there a conflict of licensing? I was under the impression that Disneyland has all the rights to Marvel.

It depends on the characters. Universal has the rights to a number of the characters on the East coast. However, as with Cosmic Rewind, Disney can use the Guardians of the Galaxy. They even had Dr. Strange doing meet and greets in Disney Studios when his movie came out. You won't see Spiderman at WDW, but he is in Disneyland.

With the new MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings about to be a success, what the likelihood that the character or attractions around the character could come somewhere to Walt Disney World Resort? The character is not featured in any of the character artwork at Marvel Super Hero Island, so I can only assume that Shang-Chi and his supporting cast are available to use in Orlando.

Having seen the film for myself, I think the most likely place for the character would be somewhere in Hollywood Studios (maybe replacing the space at Beauty and the Beast in Sunset Boulevard) or as an overlay for Rock 'n Roller Coaster ala The Incredicoaster if Disney doesn't wish to re-theme the ride to another musical artist.

Another possible location could be the China Pavilion in Epcot, but it would be trickier to add given all of the events that go on in the Park.

What do you all think?
It was a disappointing film. Not complete crap, it was somewhat entertaining but I admit to falling asleep twice. The Star had little screen presence. The real star was the sister. From a martial arts movie perspective it was not very good.

Disney would probably use Doctor Strange, The Eternals, and Shang-Chi plus the Guardians at the parks. Shang-Chi could have a great ride at EPCOT in the China Pavilion. I could see Eternals at EPCOT as well.

I had an idea for a possible Marvel land at DHS (but before I saw Shang-Chi): have a China setting which allows them to feature Dr Strange at the Sanctum in Hong Kong, could be a show like in Anaheim or an actual ride. Shang Chi I thought would make for a good martial arts show (could be a nice replacement when/if IJ stunt show disappears for a proper ride). And I picture the Eternals could be used to make the big E ticket in the land with the different characters showing off their different powers fighting Deviants (who are reportedly the bad guys in that film) - I could see a good ride like the Uni Spider Man where guests are thrown into the middle of a battle.

using a Chinese setting would help make the land visually distinct in the park and could have food offerings different from the rest of the park. I think a specific location would work better than a more generic “campus” like that in Anaheim

They do have him out at Marvel Campus but, honestly it's like someone Marvel Bounding from the way the have him dressed...

If they follow the pattern like Loki where he changes costumes as weeks go by then maybe this Shang Chi will too. Maybe they are waiting for more people to see the movie before they reveal him in proper "superhero" costume.

Also, with all the mythological creatures they introduced in the movie, you would think that they are planning something for it somehow other than merchandise.
