Will Ohana (breakfast) serve bacon for child with special needs?

Not sure if anyone has any recent experience, but I'm wondering if Ohana will serve bacon. My son is on the spectrum and also has sensory issues. He won't eat scrambled eggs or anything else on Ohana's breakfast skillet menu, but my daughter really wants to meet Stitch. If we put in the special needs on the reservation and let the server know that my son is on the spectrum and has sensory issues, will they be able to serve him bacon? I know it isn't on their menu, but looks like the other onsite restaurants all have it, so I'm not sure if they'd be able to get it from Capt. Cooks or something. Was hoping to avoid calling the call center, but will do so if needed. Thanks, in advance, for any answers or suggestions.

I can't say for sure, but I can vouch for special needs dining in general. Calling them should not be too bad. I think you just have to call during like business hours. (I'm not 100%, but that was my recollection from a long time ago.)

With food allergies, they could sometimes serve food that isn't on the menu. They aim to be helpful.

We have also been told that 'Ohana and Kona Cafe actually share a kitchen. (A number of WDW hotels have a central kitchen)

I can’t say for sure, 100%, but we were there at the end of January and I feel pretty sure that a table near ours asked if they could get bacon and the server said no problem. Can’t hurt to reach out to the special dining folks, but I think you should be okay.

We had read ahead of our visit a year ago that you could request bacon.
Several in our party aren't particularly fond of sausage, and we asked when we were seated and they said absolutely, no problem.
Not sure why it was removed. Maybe it costs more?

I would call ahead, but we run into that also, as my son is on the spectrum as well and have never had an issue with his sensory challenges. He loves bacon as well. Good luck to a Spectrum family. God Bless.

Disney used to be very accommodating to guests, but, a recent trip has shown that this has changed and it all depends on the CM you talk to, older ones still were happy to help, but, younger ones could be be hit or miss, mainly miss. However, when it comes to dietary need they should try and accommodate these without question. However, it won't do any harm to call in advance and ask for some kind of confirmation.

I found some follow up information from WDW's information page:

-Common Allergy-Friendly Requests

Most table-service and select quick-service restaurants can accommodate the following common allergy- friendly requests and intolerances without any advance notice. This includes eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat.

Less Common Allergy-Friendly or Intolerances Requests

Walt Disney World table-service and quick-service restaurants will do their best to accommodate you if you need meals made without a food or ingredient that is not one of the allergies the Food and Drug Administration considers most common. Examples of less common allergy-friendly or intolerance requests include, but are not limited to, gluten-friendly & lactose-friendly.

When to Contact Us in Advance

If you or anyone in your party has either with 4 or more allergy-friendly requests, requires pureed meals, or adheres to a medically-restrictive diet (such as very low protein), contact Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com in advance to request a Special Dietary Request Form.

We request that you don’t contact us any sooner than 14 days prior to your arrival. With the information you provide, the Special Diets team will assist you in navigating the dining process, which may include providing the restaurants you intend to visit with advance notice.
