Will Disneyland Park get a new ride for its 75th Anniversary?

We are less than six years away from Disneyland’s 75th anniversary and with all the current focus on California Adventure over that timeframe, is a new ride in the pipeline for such a landmark anniversary?
Lots of ideas have been thrown around such as Frozen in Fantasyland, a new attraction for Galaxy’s Edge and a New Tomorrowland.

Do we think a major anniversary such as this one will receive a major ride as well?

I shudder at the notion of having so long to wait, but a new Tomorrowland would seem like a prudent way for them to celebrate the seventy-fifth. Alongside any revival of the land I would imagine that the Innoventions building would become something more than a lounge. This far out's it's hard to make an educated guess as to what theme and ride they might choose for the space.

I'm thinking they're waiting until after New New Orleans/Bayou Country is completed this year before announcing anything for Disneyland Park. We know in 2025 we're getting Walt Disney, and 2026 is the Mandalorian mission for Smuggler's Run, then nothing. Something else must be in the works for that park to open before 2030, we just might not know until after the 70th anniversary

If I were to guess, New Tomorrowland would be the way to go. I'm betting on it being announced at D23 2026, as it was heavily rumored that Iger pulled it from the panel this year.

That way they have the years of 2027, 2028, 2029, with a targeted opening of 2030 in time for the 75th. I'm betting on Avatar opening in 2030 as well, so having two big draws to each park will help for sure, and with a celebration and milestone like the 75th, yeah they need to go really big.

Again, wanting to “go big” on an anniversary year with huge new attractions is asking for lower attendance the year before. Better to spread the reasons to attend out.

It’s not what I personally want, it just makes business sense. It’s like Costco being full of Christmas decorations on Halloween. I kind of wish the Halloween decorations wouldn’t appear until the week of Halloween, but that’s actually when they need to start taking those things down and stocking the Christmas supplies.

That’s probably when they open Carsland North in the spot formerly known as the Rivers of America.

You're right. The two Avengers rides and the Coco boat ride will likely open a year or two before Avatar does.

The smartest thing would to open things in the year leading up to the anniversary. You could then recycle the rode opening during anniversary marketing. And then the construction isn't happening during the construction if they tried to open it after an anniversary to keep numbers up

As that is only a little over 4 years away that would mean they would need to start construction on it next year. I don't see that happening with anything but the Avengers Campus rides.

This is the correct answer.
If I'm being optimistic I could see Disney announcing a new project next year for Disneyland proper and starting the project immediately. But the realistic side of me thinks other than maybe something for TL I don't see that happening.

I don’t see it unless it’s just a Buzz retheme or replacement. There is precedence for that too as that was the new ride for DL’s 50th. Granted, between 2002-2005 they didn’t have nearly as many construction projects going on at DLR. I think it was just TOT, Buzz and Monsters. The latter two being much more modest than the Eastern Gateway, new parking structure, Avatar Land + E ticket, Avengers E ticket and Coco ride from the ground up. With all of that said, I’d have to imagine them wanting to save the Buzz replacement for new TL. I mean, if New TL is just paint and a Buzz retheme that’s doable for the 75th. It’s also disappointing.

I still think a little demo here and there especially for the Launch Bay building and exterior PeopleMover tracks along with the former loading platform is doable too.

Problem is, I don't think people quite understand just what a massive eyesore it'll be removing those two. I would rather them close the entirety of the land between early 2027 to early 2030 to demo what I stated above, plus put in a New PeopleMover.

I am also a firm believer that Disney knows that fans will be disappointed with a "New Tomorrowland" if it doesn't include the PeopleMover. The past three D23s have been rumored to announce something Tomorrowland related, and I bet you anything Imagineering is watching forums and overall social media reactions to get an idea exactly what exactly people want. It is clear that everyone wants the PeopleMover back. We can safely say for sure, at least we know Imagineering knows this. Trust me. They listen to us. We don't always get what we want for a multitude of reasons, but like I stated, they know what we want.

Why else would the Monsters Inc. door coaster come to fruition years after a concept for it was developed? It's because people never stopped talking online about how badly they wanted them to actually make the door coaster.

Well as the say goes, no idea is ever really scrapped in WDI. Its just recycled and reused at a later today, or repackaged and used for another concept.

As for new TL, it's day will come, I'd stake my life on it. Its just a matter of when and what scope.

How about an Inside Out dark ride for Innovations in Tomorrowland? It could talk about mental illness like the Peter Pan syndrome.

The movie did make more money than Frozen so I can see Tomorrowland becoming Inside Out Land.

I can live with no new attractions for Disneyland. But if anything, 85th anniversary and 100th anniversary mark should be the big time Disneyland should be treated for a new attraction. Those are the big milestones.
