I was wondering if any body thinks DCA will turn into a decent park.I read an interesting artical by Al Lutz today on Miseage.com.
you can read the artical here http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al090403a.htm any why i never been to DCA but i hear it's awful.I think that X-game show sounded cool.

What do you guys think of DCA? And what would you do to it.

From what I've heard and seen I love DCA but there is a missing touch which is called "the Disney touch"........... I would like more disney rides there........... but what can I say, I've never been there before...

And a final remark to the Disney Company: STOP CLONING RIDES!!! YOU ARE NOT I REPEAT YOU ARE NOT SIX FLAGS!!!!! Had to get that out......

Note, their New TOT is nothing like the WDW one, what i hear it is a decorated drop tower.

and they are SLOWLY turning around, all they need is an idea how to get this park to appeal to everyone with the dumb theme they chose... (i like California, but a park with the theme in the state is not good)

I spend more time at DCA than I do DL...I WISH I could be there right now! The ABC preview weekend is going on..I went last year, and met some cool people, and had a great time listening to Jim Belushi's band!
And anyone who knows me KNOWS how I feel about Mr. Putz...:hammer:

DCA is not something most people expect from Disney, and have expected sinec 1955, and that has hurt them (DCA). DCA needs a long-term fix; gauranteed winners. Not just new themed carny fare (Flik's Fun Fair), concerts that showcase bands who are a few decades older than a third of DCA's visitors, an old DL parade that was promised never to return (And it never did, not in DL anyway), and one holiday fireworks thingy that, to most people, probably feels like is supposed to cover most of the over-$40-admission (Cause the majority of DL fans do not like DCA).

TOT will be a test. A big test. I personally don't think just one E-ticket will do the trick in the longterm outlook for DCA. If DCA i9s to survive as is in the longterm, they'll need at least three or four more E-tickets (In addition to TOT). The SF/Monterey area definately needs something.

The problem is that DCA, for me, is nothing. I've done half the attractions in Florida, and the Paradise Pier section is rides that most theme parks have. So, that's why DCA is so unappealing. Also, the theme in general isn't too exciting to locals, which, I would say, outnumber (or comes close to the number) of tourists that come to the Disneyland Resort for vacation.

In my opinion, DCA should dump the Paradise Pier (Screamin' is about the only uniqe ride in this section), and just let imagineers go crazy with designing rides and attractions. In other words, it could use a few rides, and not every ride needs to be an E-Ticket, but they should all be unique, and shouldn't be only film-based.

True

The PP section is my least favorite part of DCA and it always seems to be the most unpopular. CA Screamin cannot carry practically an entire side of a park.

I do not like DCA very much, but PP is the worst part. I mean, I'd much rather go to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk each summer, and pay a hell of a lot less.

DCA will eventually turn around. There is too much money invested in infrastructure to let the place be the money pit that it is right now. How fast can they turn it around? It depends on how much $$$ they are willing to invest in it. Besides the need for some original west coast attractions, they need to develope a great parade that is unique to the park. That would be a great start. I think that DLR's entertainment division needs a kick in the pants. WDW's entertainment division has three great parades in motion right now. Why can't DLResorts do the same? As for the California theme, they can still salvage that too, if the imagineers are allowed to. There are too many potentially great attraction idea's from the state of California for each section of DCA.

What they need is a focus on CA history. After all, this is a CA theme; one or two of the sections should be converted to a CA history theme, such as the gold rush. And I'm not talking about simple exhibits and videos. This has already been the death of DCA. I want E-tickets, great interactive areas and awesome landscaping. Part of why I don't care very much for DCA is that while every other Disney park gives off the illusion of being in another world, this place doesn't. And although this is how DCA was intended, I truly believe it's part of what's hurting the park.

Agreed!!! And this is what I've been saying all along. There's nothing wrong with the California theme. The problem is that DCA is NOT themed to California. And there is so much potential of material to work from given how diverse California is. The Gold Rush, to me, always seemed like such an obvious choice of theme on which to base at least something. It is arguably THE biggest part of California's history. Yet the largest section of the park is devoted to carnival rides in what the "Disney-can-do-no-wrong" types always claim is some sort of "salute to California's carnival history". Give me a break!
