Well, just thought I'd follow-up in this.

THE GOOD NEWS: I'm goin' to Disney world in 3 Days!!!!!!!

THE BAD NEWS: Still no word from Disney about CoP. Again, please respond if you've heard anything. If there's nothing by tomorrow, I'm afraid I'll have lost all hope (By the way, does this seem reasonable-- whenever they have opened it before, they have provided advanced notice. President's Day is Monday and still nothing. Is it too late?)

Someone named Art on alt.disney.disneyworld reported earlier that CoP was open TODAY. Here's the post:
Was at WDW Magic Kingdom today and the Carousel of Progress was open - although it got hung-up on one rotation cycle and we missed half of the presentation. Otherwise worked fine. Crowds at the park was medium level and attendance at the COP seemed low!
I have no idea if it's true or not, but it sounds like good news to me!

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress and The Timekeeper will be open on February 14 for one day only.

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress will operate from 9:00 a.m. until park close.

Timekeeper will operate from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Just got it off the Cast Portal.

Yes the COP was open Thursday the 13th when I stopped by arround 1:30p. It was playing to 20 person audiences while next door SM was at a 30 min wait. But at least all the animatronics were working and it looked clean.

I did both today. Both seemed to be in pretty good shape with no malfunctions that I noticed. They even had the circular electronic sign outside of Timekeeper on. Pretty good sized crowds in both, too.

Right now I am really curious as to how Disney's decision makers' thought processes work...

Today had SO MANY MORE people there than yesterday. They were using all but one or two parking lots and Tomorrowland was basically wall-to-wall people. Guess what? That's right, both CoP and Timekeeper were shuttered again. What's the deal? How could they have them open on a day like yesterday that had just a slight increase in crowds and keep them closed on a madhouse day like today?

It boggles the mind. :veryconfu

Well at least Buzz Lightyear was open when you were there. I like COP and all, but Buzz was closed the week I was there (Feb 10-14), and COP was open. They were rehabbing BL and you could smell the paint as you passed through that section on the TTA!
