Will anyone miss Ellen's Energy Adventure?

It had Dinosaurs, an incredible scene of a space shuttle launch and a a movie that reminded me of what a substitute teacher would toss in to get through the day while giving the impression of learning.

I think you're getting your attractions mixed up. EEA doesn't have a space shuttle launch, unless I'm forgetting something . . .

I remember the first time I rode it 1983. I was like "the picture showed a dinosaur"!!!!!! (which my whole childhood I loved dinosaurs so I was stoked and was more excited than even mickey), I got a little bored with the video and was prob fidgety sitting on this huge couch. BUT THEN the couch moved!!!!! Divided into smaller couches..... rotated and drove around... AND then DINOSAURS!!!!!!!! Yep it was amazing....
I feel your sentiment, and that's exactly how I felt when I first rode UOE back in '86. Being kindergarten age, dinosaurs were my life. We studied them in school that year, I had many of the toy figures, and experiencing that ride was like an out of body experience. There just were no words. I remember setting up a miniature dino scene in my bedroom shortly after that vacation, resembling the look of the ride (well, as close as you can get using toy dinos, a cardboard jungle backdrop, and a blanket for a "roof".

And then there's the catchy, original song which has pleasantly become stuck in my head more times than I'm proud to admit growing up. If you know by heart most of the lyrics to this....you lived during good times.

lol

I'm not joking, I will miss the Stupid Judy part of it all. I've used "Stupid Judy" to explain certain clients to my husband in how they act. One was even named Judy which made me chuckle more.

I really enjoyed the ride in both forms though. I get it needed to be updated but oh how do I love the dinosaurs. That I will miss most really out of it all.

I do enjoy Ellen's Energy Adventure as a guilty pleasure. I love Ellen, Bill Nye, and Jeopardy so they make the ride fun for me. Yeah the information was dated after not having an update since 1996, but the themes presented are still extremely relevant in 2017. One of my regrets is that I'm too young to have experienced the original UoE show. Both the Kinetic Mosaic in the pre-show and the mirrored theater walls for the finale seemed like absolutely incredible effects. On that note, I greatly appreciate the lengths Martin went to in his new Energy tribute to give the viewer a feeling of what they were like in person. I'm just upset that the only UoE I knew (first time I rode was 2013) was one that was dilapidated and falling apart after years of neglected maintenance. Heck, I've heard that the middle theater cars aren't even operating anymore as of last month.

For me the biggest loss overall is that of the traveling theater ride system. I don't mind the long length of the show at all, in fact I think it allowed for a more compelling attraction. Just the way the turntables, the show doors (despite door A being broken for the last year), and the theater cars themselves work is all incredibly awe-inspiring to me. It's unlikely Disney would ever build another traveling theater ride, so we will be losing a really fascinating way to experience an attraction after August 13th.

Long live the Universe of Energy!

We could ... no should have gotten guardians as a new building, energy should have been vastly updated and shortened.
While I'm proud they are building a new building for the space restaurant... why do you have 2 perfectly good buildings just sitting there wasting space... (wonders of life.. and odyssey) .Why does new dining deserve a new building but new rides need to remove old rides????
Ouch. Great observation.

Never road it, quite frankly wouldn't have even known about it if it wasn't for all the discussions on this board, so, no I guess not....

However, there's a member of my family who's very excited about what's replacing it....

I always enjoyed it. I had hoped they might update the show with all the same people including new technology and the most up to date information available. Plus, it was a nice break from the heat and walking. Ellen still made me laugh, too.

I remember a coworker who visited Epcot on vacation and was telling us about how he was fascinated about how the UOE ride worked. He went on an on about it. It made me want to see it first hand, so my next vacation was Disney and a trip to Epcot and I was truly amazed at how it all worked. That was Disney to me making an entire audience move and return you to the same spot like nothing happened. Its what I don't understand anymore, sometimes I see the magic in the new rides and sometimes I just shake my head and say , huh did Disney produce that.

I was honestly hoping for a new educational show starring astronomer/science rock star Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

And hey, you could also incorporate Disney characters!
