I was just reading about the Wilderness camp ground train. 1. I never realized there were plans to revive it to get to the Wilderness Lodge, that would have been cool and a "Must stay there" for my family if it existed. 2. I noticed there was a separate barn for the trains somewhere on the campground. I looked at google maps but couldn't find it. Where is it, unless it was removed then I guess the question is.. where was it?

Well, if they's revive the old train and "fix" Discovery Island, then I'm in!:D
River Country too! I'm dreaming I know...;)

A location that makes sense is the complex on either side of Golf View Drive, just north of the Tri Circle D building at the FW entrance. Just a guess after looking at Google maps.

Broggie makes no mention of the location in his "Waly Disney's Railroad Story".

I was looking last night at Google Maps, and I agree - it is about the best placement. Wish I could remember from when I was a kid...

I did the same thing and was thinking the same thing. I wonder if the building there that looks to house golf carts now was the former Engine Barn.

Love the trains, not the smoothest ride but totally cool.
Here ya go, Roundhouse behind the ranch.

Just as I suspected. Some more info for all of us that love Disney, Trains, and Monorails! I love seeing how things evolve even if it isn't for the best.

Are you sure it isn't the building at the other end of your arrow. The building you point to looks too new. While the other one looks weathered.

Yep, it's the correct building. It must have been re-roofed fairly recently. The other building has always been the Service Building to support the Campground operations and .... maybe they need a new roof, too. Years ago after the trains had stopped and before the cars were turned into Pleasure Island Ticket Booths they sat in that building and later they were just tossed outside to make room for golf cart repair. There are some train fan groups that purchased the remaining trains and are restoring them (hopefully) but I haven't seen or heard about their progress. It would be nice if somewhere one full train existed.

If you've read much about these trains while pretty they were loaded with design issues - insufficient road bed, undersized rails, undersized water tank, poor maintenance and poor/dangerous layout (too many road crossings) etc. I think they the wheel trucks didn't pivot either contributing to the jerky ride.

That all said, I love'em! Nothing some $$$ couldn't have fixed.
