We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for 6 nights this summer. Knowing that no resort will guarantee requests, does anyone have any insight into the best rooms. From what I read, it seems like the north wing has the best "views". We would like quiet but convenient. Thanks

If you're looking for "quiet" I hope you didn't book a courtyard room. because you do not get quiet during the day up until about 10pm...not to mention the floodlights that stay on by the pool.

North wing Woods view do have some nice views. the South wing looks at the Villas.

We've had no problems with courtyard views (specifically overlooking the quiet pool) and we have stayed there many times, then again we stay on the 6th floor and it's pretty quiet up there.

We really like the rooms overlooking the MK (-022 to _032) which also overlook the small pond. It's quiet up there and the views from the balcony are nice...to be honest we haven't had a bad room yet.
The only room we had issue with was one just above the water falls, sounded like it was raining all the time.

Do they classify the rooms overlooking the Villas pool (aka: quiet pool) as courtyard view? I did not know that. I assumed that "courtyard view rooms" were specifically rooms that overlooked the grand courtyard of the themed pool. If what Tigsmom says is true, then my previous comments about the noise level (and the airhorn that blows whenever the geyser is about the erupt) only pertain to the courtyard of the theme pool.

So does that mean that "woods view" rooms are only those rooms on the outside of the northern wing?

Unless they have changed the classifications once again, yes these are courtyard views. I know this because we received a complimentary upgrade to a courtyard view a few years back and this is what we got; we have stayed there in subsequent years and it's always been a courtyard view on the paperwork.

Our reservations say "woodland view". I assume that means the north wing facing the MK. I will ask when I call about a week out from our arrival date. Thanks for all your help.:sohappy:

Facing the MK is a woodland view. Our favorite is 6032 because we could, at one time, watch the fireworks and then see Cinderella's Castle change colors; our girls loved this when they were small.

I'd check your location relative to Whispering Canyon. I'm not familiar with the layout of the resort but I understand that Whispering Canyon gets fairly rowdy and has the potential to drive guests nuts.

We've stayed right above the WCC with a room that opened to the inside (overlooking the lobby), we've never had a problem once we closed the door and of course the lower floors hear more of the noise. (those are standard rooms I believe, outside view of the parking lot/loading zone/smokehouse).

We stayed in a room above Artist Point when they had a character breakfast and even that wasn't too noisy.

Ditto - 6th floor, Woods View. We like 6004 thru 6018, but that's because our FAVORITE Mousekeeper has that block of rooms :)

Now, one note... even here, the fireworks are not totally visible - the trees along the water have gotten VERY large.

To me that's the sad part. We started staying there just after it opened and loved to watch the fireworks from our room (kids were small and couldn't make it late into the night at the parks). Even after trees were topped or dropped after all those storms a few years back it was still hard to see the MK.

We stayed in the WL for 11 nights in early June. Room 4020 and it was excellent. The lower view is obscured a bit, but the trip to the pool and MK boats was great. The elevators in the WL are the quickest I have ever exerienced. The only down side was that an item came up missing from the room during the last weekend there and I am still hoping to get this successfully resolved.

I have to disagree...I did not care for our room in the north wing...Now i was like the second and third room off the elevtor and we were only on the 3rd floor. IF maybe we were higher up and down the hall more it might have been better. The best room i have ever had was above the check in desk, 3rd floor. It was like having 2 views. Could sit in the rocking chairs and look across to the WCC and down to the lobby and the outside view was of the Villa, trees and down towards the bus stops!! I loved that room (sorry so long ago i dont know the #) and i think that is called courtyard and cost more...at least that is what i was told by a CM. I wanted that again but could only sing a woods view for this trip.

When I stayed at the Lodge all I cared about was having the highest floor available. Now that I am a DVC member I am just happy to be in the Villas.

We stayed in room 6020 (bunkbeds) in May and loved the view. We had a slightly obstructed nightly view of the fireworks but worked out great for our tired kids and mine and my husbands tired feet. The kids enjoyed watching the MK boat ferry in the morning when having breakfast and we even watched some of the electrical parade from our balcony. When we made reservations I just requested a room on a higher level close to the elevator. It was a great room!
