Wilderness Lodge

We are thinking of staying at the Wilderness Lodge next year or the year after. Having never been there, I am very interested in the atmosphere. Could someone please describe the atmosphere? Is it a fun place to stay? We have stayed at CS and AKL and loved both. I am assuming the Wilderness Lodge is just as exciting if not better then the other two I mentioned.
Thanks for the help.

It's BY FAR our favorite place to stay at WDW!!!

For more info and some other thoughts about the Wilderness Lodge, do a search on here (little button at the top right of this page) for numerous trip reports and in-depth discussions about the resort.

You'll love it there!!!

Have fun deciding!!!

I have to disagree with the comments of the WL my husband and I stayed in the WL vacation club part of the resort the room was a huge disappointment not only that our room was at least 1 mile away from the lobby.... We had some friends come and visit and they wanted to take us out to dinner so we went to the artist point this would have to be the worst Disney dinner we ever had:hurl: the next night we moved to a regular room which was alot nicer then the vacation club room... I was sent a comment card in the mail and sent them comments on my stay and how much the resort was a disappointment I have never heard a responce and it has alomost been a year!!! My husband will never stay at the WL again...

Really cant say enough positive things about the WL that have not been said yet! Ive never heard anything bad (till that last post) about it.
Wife and I, and now 2 kids (2 & 4) have stayed many times in standard rooms, vacation club studio, 1& 2 beds and last sept. stayed conceirge level and enjoyed all rooms.
Whispering Canyon is a great time, dont miss it. They serve a great breakfast all you can eat.
The pool is so well themed you cant help but enjoy it.

OK I am REALLY surprized by this. We stayed at VWL our last trip (Jan 2004) our DVC home. (We stayed 3 nights in a studio and 3 in a 1 bedroom.) Our friends stayed at WL. Our room, accomdations, and everthing about it was MUCH better then their WL room. (even the elevators were faster and nicer.) Our friends room was rather dirty and run down, had some ants in it and was very small. (much smaller then our studio,) Our only compant was VWL is a long walk to refill your mugs. (but then we had a refreg in our room.)

BCV is still our most favorite WDW resort, but we found VWL comperiable and nice. We just don't dig the theming as much as the beach personally. The resrot layout for WVL could of been better planed, one end of the hallway to the other is very long. (we had the last room on the 3rd floor.)

I found transortation from WL to be like any other MK resort. Close to MK and very convenent that way, but a bit father away from all other resorts. The boat to MK was great, there even is a boat to Con and FW, that is nice. It links you up to the monorail fine.

We almost always took the bus to TTC and then the monorail to Epcot. That was much faster then the bus to Epcot. (It also seemed these busses ran more often since it was so close to TTC.) They also drop you off 1st both ways instead of taking you all the way to the campground.

Sorry to hear you didn't like VWL. I am very suprized. The rooms were very nice when we stayed there.

Last summer, my husband and I took the boat over to Wildnerness Lodge on 4th of July, no less, to escape the crowds for awhile -- and we were able to secure a dinner reservation even though Disney Dine said no seats were available. With the kind and friendly help of the restaurant hostess, we got into the WCanyon for dinner. We have large appetites, and WL is the only Disney property we found that gave ample servings. All of the other restaurants on property had miniscule portions not worth the money. WL on the other hand was AWESOME in the quantity and quality of their food. We would go there again in a heart beat. I worked at Glacier National Park for two summers, so I have a fond space in my heart for the old lodge appearance - very nice!
