What is the best location within in Wilderness Lodge to request a room? We are a party of 3 adults and one 7 year old. We are looking for advice for convenience, view, quietness,... Any advice will be helpful. Thank you.

We stayed at WL last year and reserved a standard view, we were upgraded at check in to a woods view and it could not have been better. We were on the 2nd floor facing MK and it was beautiful, there was a small pond below and you could watch the MK fireworks from the balcony and see the monorail pass by. Also we were only a few steps from the stairs/elevator so we were super close to roaring forks, the laundry room and the boat launch. It was a bit of a walk to the buses but nothing unmanageable even with a very excited/ tired 4yr old. So I strongly reccomend paying a little more for the woods view. I hope this helps

Might consider requesting queen with bunk beds....so child can have his own spot. The bunk beds were quite comfy TWIN size matteresses...not singles...perhaps the smaller adult could have other. We stayed above the lobby a last year and it was rather noisy til late at night and during the day. I am paying more this year to avoid that possibility! It is a wonderful spot to stay no matter your view....plenty of nice seating areas with wonderful vistas all over the lodge....rocking chairs, arm chairs, couches.....they just totally refurbed the interior with new carpet, wallpaper, furniture, flatscreen tvs.....HAVE FUN!!!:D

We stayed at the WL for our honeymoon last fall. We picked a standard room, but were upgraded to a Pool View. We were on the first floor (which the CM seemed to think most folks wouldn't prefer); however, our front door was a 30 second walk from outside (near the pool). It was great.

The King bed took up A LOT of the room space.....however, we saw a 2x queen room (I don't think they were twin beds) and thought the king room was more spacious.....Not sure about the bunk bed rooms, but that sure does sound fun for kids.

Good luck and enjoy your trip....the WL is fantastic.

As an aside, we found that taking the bus to the T&TC was MUCH faster than taking the boat to the MK.

Depending on the family dynamics and if the child needs his or her own bed, you might want to consider a bunk bed room (one queen bed and twin bunks). WL rooms do not have a sleeper sofa like some of the other deluxes. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the room, you may want to upgrade to a deluxe room, as the WL rooms seem small because they're the size of a moderate room but with queen instead of double beds.

Courtyard view is excellent, but so is woods view IF you're above the otter pond; then you have a nice view of the MK and a part of Bay Lake. If you do end up paying for woods view, don't let them stick you over the loading dock or some nonsense. Woods means woods and I had to go through two rooms last time until I was satisfied (the first had a solid balcony when I said I didn't want one, second one looked at the parking lot and bus area).

If you want to see the MK fireworks and be close to an elevator, laundry and the Roarin'Forks then ask for a room that ends in 022-032. 032 will be right by the elevator that will take you straight down across from the laundry room and just down from Roarin'Forks...go up the ramp and then you will be in the lobby. Rooms on that side overlook the small pond and the MK.

We have stayed in 4022 (Nice), but will ask for 6030 or 6032 to be higher. We have not stayed in that side of the building our last few trips (we overlooked the quiet pool -also nice, but an upgrade) and at one time could sit on the bed and watch the colors change on the castle.

We've never had a bunkbed room, but I remember hearing that they are somewhat darker than the 2 queen rooms because one of the wall lights needs to be eliminated because of the bunks.

The rooms have been refurbed since these pics, but its an idea...

2 queen room

bunkbed room

No matter which you pick I think you will enjoy your stay. Have a meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and don't forget to ask for ketchup!

I would just book a standard room(s) and tell them, of course, how many adults and children you have. It's hard to get a bad room at WL. Also, the views are either of trees or the courtyard, so it really doesn't matter.

Good luck.

Thanks TMom....concierge is same whichever but still costs more...although you do get free breakfast, snacks and light dinners if needed....hmmmmmmm...that also says they do not take bunk bed requests...but THEY DO!!! Not sure if it truly means anything but it is on my reservation.....they do say they do not guarentee it....bunk beds worth price to me as my kids would bug each other no end in same bed. The new bunk beds in photos I have seen have lights on both bunks...nice improvement!!:king:

My sister had a room that overlooked the garbage and we had a room that overlooked the smokehouse; thats why we always ask for the 6th floor now because even if thats the view at least you are higher up.

Then there is the boat which TOOTS at departure and arrival think it runs a couple hours after park closure....we are seriously dreaming of being tapped on the shoulder and being upgraded to the VP or Presidential Suite!!! :D Hey one can dream...especially this year...:D

The sounds of the boat never bothered us there or at the Boardwalk Inn...its there in the background, but not annoying.

We booked a woods view so hoping to be in the same area as we were a few yrs back... nothing beats sitting on the deck watching the fireworks, complete surprise as well really. But I read somewhere that the trees have grown so high none of the rooms can see MK or fireworks... but hey, we can still hold out hope.

I'm looking to book a 5th or 6th floor room with a courtyard view. Hopefully if I get specific in what room I want, we might get it. On our honeymoon at POFQ I requested a river view with a king size bed. We got the view but ended up with two queen beds. Not a huge problem, but I'm hoping to get a king room at the WL this time around!

This will also be our first stay at a deluxe resort! :sohappy:
