Wilderness Lodge - 'Woodland' or 'Courtyard' view?

We are staying at the WL in Sept for the first time, so far we have a 'woodland' view but I like the idea of a 'courtyard' view.

We have previously stayed at the GF and the Poly and on both occasions had a theme park view over the seven seas lagoon. Ideally I want a room overlooking Bay Lake BUT I'm aware 'coutyard' also overlooks the pool. I've heard this can be noisy. I love the thought of overlooking the lake but at what cost.

What view is better, the pool with general noise of swimmers and dinners BUT with a view of the lake. OR a view of woodlands and peace and quiet?

This issue is bugging me, with brilliant views (and quiet) the last 2 trips I don't want to be frustrated about this!

We go to the WL every year and, while we now get a courtyard view because the price difference isn't too bad, unless you actually sit on your balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening for any reason, you won't be in the room enough to care. The woods view is beautiful (MK side.) I enjoyed watching the animals in the pond. The courtyard view is nice because there is so much to look at and you probably won't notice the noise because you won't be there during the day. Knowing where you have stayed in the past and that this will probably grate on you until your trip, I'd probably go ahead and switch to courtyard view and be done with it. There is always a chance you could get an upgrade but why take the chance? Have a great time at the WL...it is our favorite.

The only point during the day I'll be in the room is probably between 3pm and 5pm in between parks so that doesn't bother me much. We won't know till we get there anyway, our TA has put in a 'request' for 'courtyard' but we are currently booked under 'woodland'. I hate not knowing. I hate the thought of checking in and finding out I can't have the view I want! That's why Im doing this thread, I would like to be content that I will be happy with 'woodland' should this be the case. Thanks xx

I've been following your threads. I know your issues. Honestly you'll be fine with either. We stayed there 2ce, once with each view. The woods views are more quiet and peaceful & if really you are only going to be in room to sleep and for afternoon breaks, take the woods. The running water from the lobby to the pool creates a running water sound (like a waterfall), it was loud during the day. We had a toddler then and would need to keep sliding door closed while he napped cuz it was loud and I think we were on 4th floor.

As I said in your other post, we had a woodlands view in early June and it was very nice. We were on the 5th floor, overlooking a small pond, and we could see some of the Wishes fireworks through the woods every evening. I would have no problem requesting the same view if we were to stay at WL again. We were also close to the quick service restaurant and not far from the boat dock/launch to MK. You could also ask to be on the same side, our room number was 5024.

My only complaint was that they were working on refurbishing other floors on our side so there was construction noise during the day when we went back to rest after lunch.

Thanks, I'm sure I will be fine with both, the adrenaline high from suddenly changing our plans has gone and I seem to be finding a reason to worry!!! Weird! When I get there I hope to be happy with either! Fingers crossed!

The view from your room sounds lovely, seeing Wishes from your room is pretty special! I will take a note of your room number thanks for that. I think I need to man up a little!!!

We stayed in the lodge in November and had a courtyard view BUT we did not have a very good view of the lake. We had a woodland view in the villas in May and we were the furthest room down the hall (quite a hike but we didnt mind!) and we overlooked the woods and part of a "backstage" parking lot. Ibthink if we had a room closer to the villas entrance we wouldn't have minded the woodland view. For the amount of time we were in the room we didn't utilize the balcony like we should have. If we planned on more time in the room I would definitely request a courtyard view but otherwise a woods view is fine with me.

Oh dear, both views have their bad points then!!! I need to chillax about it really, if I'm not happy with the view when I get there I'll see if I can change, I'm losing perspective a bit I think! Once on WDW property I'm sure I won't care! Thanks.

Wilderness Lodge is lovely, the views are better from some rooms than others no matter whether they are courtyard or woods but it is a truly pretty, relaxing and fascinating resort. It has lots of interesting wildlife in the grounds, multiple hidden Mickeys, good food outlets and lovely staff.

Try to relax and look forward to your holiday, after all, you will be at Disney. I know it wasn't your first choice but you'll still have a great time :)

We stayed 1st floor near both pools. Our patio had a view of the "quiet pool", and we were just around the corner from the main pool complex. it was a nice room.:)

In that case Id be booking some backstage tours, fireworks cruise and other such things rather than a room upgrade, unless it was to Club 7 at the HRH ;)

I quite agree. I'd rather spend the £900 on other things than a room upgrade, Wild Africa Trek would be my choice. If you are planning on resting between 3 and 5pm I would have thought a woods view would be better for you.

This year we got a free upgrade from woods view to lake/pool view. But we had to lean over the balcony to see the lake and the pool we could 'see' was the Villas' pool, almost hidden by the trees. It was fine, but I wouldn't like to have paid a supplement for it compared to last years normal woods view, it on the same side of the hotel, just further towards the lake.
