Wilderness Lodge vs. Old Faithful Inn

So, we're going to WDW in December and staying at WL for the first time (we've never seen it in person). It took months of deliberation for me to come to this lodging decision. It won b/c of the holiday feel/decorations, the boat ride to MK and Contempo, and the overall location. About a month ago I started second guessing my choice. The reason will probably seem quite silly, but here goes...

...back in 2005 DH and I (pre-kids) went to Yellowstone and Grand Teton- we stayed several places in the parks including the Old Faithful Inn. While the Old Faithful Inn is not the only inspiration behind WL, it's kind of hard to miss the stylistic similarities. So, having stayed at the Old Faithful Inn, I worry that I might be let down staying at WL. This was one of the cons on my list when making the selection for Disney. It's not fair to compare the 2 since a trip to Yellowstone and a trip to Disney are 2 totally different things...but I find my concern growing again.

Maybe the concern is just my brain trying to conjure up something extra (and not needed) for me to plan. but has anyone stayed at both and have any thoughts on this?

WL is out favorite.

I've stayed at Old Faithful Inn several times as well. You won't be disappointed it. The first time I stayed at WL my mind went straight to OFI.

Enjoy the trip.

Funny, we ONLY want to stay in the Wilderness Lodge, and I have the opposite problem in that I would second guess staying anywhere but WL--you will not be disappointed I can assure you! Have not been there during Xmas but have had several family members and it has an amazing feel at that time of yr. Peace

The WL is our home away from home. You will not be sorry you choose to stay here....and it is even better at Christmas time. The tree in the lobby is awesome. We have been here 3 times and every time we first walk into the lobby its like we have never seen it before...I stop and just look around. The gift shop is the best resort shop IMHO.
