Wilderness Lodge transportation

But from what I've seen the Magic Kingdom boat is direct form WL to MK.
But the contemporary Fort Wilderness one is a loop calling at WL, CR and FW. Does it stop twice at the Lodge as the two boats do opposite loops?
The MK boat is direct. It just shares the left side of the dock with CR. And while the CR, WL and FW are on a "loop", from the WL you can go directly to CR or FW without stopping.

Thank you, I had read that one boat did CR, WL and FW but didn't realise both directions stopped at WL.

Hmm I thought the CR boat dock was repurposed and that resort wasn't in the loop anymore? I was going to walk from MK to CR and take a boat to WL (shopping) but a CM told me that it was no longer possible to do by boat. Possibly wrong, as I didn't investigate it further just shrugged and went back to MK.

Edit: I guess the CM I spoke too was wrong. Not the first time they've been wrong lately.

Can anyone give the bus routes? Like the AK bus leaves WL and stops next or goes directly to the park etc...
Last I knew, the AK bus would leave WL, stop at GF and then direct to AK. I believe this was the same for the HS. Epcot would be WL, FW, then Epcot.

The bus is faster, but let's face it, if you are staying at WL, why are you skipping out on the eye candy and trying to rush to MK? Leave 10 minutes earlier and take the boat. Its much more relaxing and entertaining than the bus, IMHO.

Personally, I think the boats at WDW are one of the best kept secrets. Surprisingly, you can get a lot of places by boat and so many people just concentrate on getting from A to B by bus.

Because everyone there wants to rush around like a chicken with their head cut off and miss 90% of what's special at WDW. ;)

Sometimes people have a legitimate reason for being at MK before the first boat of the day arrives. Like dining.
Oh I agree, but I guess you missed the subtle sarcasm and digs at park commandos. People rush around even when they don't have to be anywhere, and miss so much.

Have yet to experience that in the past 15 years - but I only use the boat early in AM and at the end of the night.
I experienced it one January. We arrived for the Marathon and it was direct from WL to MK. I think it started the Tuesday after that, due to low crowds, it was one boat from FW to WL to MK during the day (not first thing in the morning or after fireworks).

The most enjoyable experience with the first boats is viewing all the bird life along the shore line and at the 'unused' beaches which tend to vanish later in the morning. During the day the bird life is sparse along the shore.

Definitely. Early mornings with the wildlife and a bit of mist on Bay Lake are gorgeous.

Uber from the Wilderness Lodge to the Poly worked out to be $4.80. We waited 4 minutes for the car to arrive and the trip took 6 minutes. The driver was amazing and even had an iPad mounted and playing Disney movies for the kids. A great option if you need to save some time going resort to resort

WL transportation as of 12/23/15

Buses run 1 to 1 1/2 hours prior to park opening and two hours after park close
MK boat operates 1/2 hour prior to park opening and 1 1/2 hours after park close

Buses to AK and DHS share with Contemporary, with Contemporary being picked up first and WL being dropped off first

Buses to Epcot share with Ft. Wliderness campground with WL being picked up and dropped off first

Of course transportation can change at any time; however this has been status quo for awhile.

I'm confused on on the DHS/AK. How can Contemp be picked up first but dropped off second? The drop off and pick up at the same time.

Sorry...in the mornings, CR is picked up first then WL. Then from WL bus goes directly to the park.

Upon leaving a park (after lunch and through park closing) the bus will drop off WL guests first and then proceed to the CR.

Do any routes from the WL currently share with the Poly? I don't think so, but if so, you could do that, get off at the Poly and walk to the TTC. However, I think at this time, the WL only shares routes with the GF when it comes to MK resorts routes, while the CR and Poly share. My idea was, say a Studios bus went WL to Poly to HS, you could swing it, but I think they're all WL-> GF ->park, except, I think, for Ecpot and DTD which go WL, FW etc....

We were at WL a week ago. The only additional stop I remember the bus making is at the Contemporary for DHS and DAK, and Disney Springs.
