Wilderness Lodge Sleigh Rides..

I was wondering the same thing. I do remember in the Samantha Brown special last Christmas that she went to the campgrounds and it was surprised by how people decorated their campsites. I was thinking about getting reservations in the evening to see the lights. Maybe after the campfire...does anyone know what time that starts?:)

It is VERY relaxing! I did it as a suprise to my girlfriend...

we took a 4 day trip to WDW after college exams last week and stayed at WL. We lined up most of our "christmasy" activities for a single day, and the sleigh ride was my suprise ending to it...best 35 bucks I've ever spent!

It's a half hour long, you meet the sleigh under the carport at the Wilderness Lodge...they have the sleigh done up with lights and garland, the driver gives you blankets (it was like 35 the night we went) and a quick introduction to the horse and where he'll be taking you...then he kindly leaves you be to soak up the moment...

We took the last tour, 9:30pm, after we had dinner at Le Cellier and watched the 5:30 Candlelight Procession.

I would definitely do the sleigh ride again! I've never seen my gf smile much! Don't forget to tip your driver!

to clarify...the Sleigh Ride from the Wilderness Lodge does not go all the way to Fort Wilderness... Now there is a Carriage Ride through Ft Wilderness, but that is something different.

We did the sleigh ride a couple of years ago. It was a nice time, and I could see if you were doing it as a couple it would be romantic, but for us we wouldn't recommend it again. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but it's just like taking a carraige ride through some dark wookds without much to see. I don't remember the price and can't say if it was expensive or not, but if it were me, I'd put the money towards a fireworks cruise instead.

When we went, the ride didn't take us to the camp site, just on part of the trail from WL to FW. Did your ride actually take you into the camp grounds?

again...there is a sleigh ride that goes from WL down the path to Ft Wilderness but turns around halfway.

then there is a carriage ride in ft wilderness that takes you around the campgrounds.

i went on the sleigh rides at fort wilderness on christmas eve and it was so beautiful and relaxing! i cant remember how much it was but it was worth it. its so peaceful and relaxing.

the sleigh rides at fort wilderness go around the resort. you start from outside the hoop-de-doo revue and go through the stable area, around the resort, past all the big vans where people stay in which are mostly decorated for xmas and people wave at you and shout happy holidays and stuff. its lovely to see the whole resort decorated.

We did the Wilderness Lodge sleigh ride last year. Starts at the port cochere outside the main lobby, circles around front near the parking lot and then heads into the woods toward Ft. Wilderness.

As a previous poster said, since you just go into the woods and turn back, there isn't much to see at all. It's really dark!! But we had a good time, it was fun to go on a "sleigh" ride in December when it was in the 60's that evening in Florida and probably about 30 at home!!
