Well, we are getting close to my son's first trip to WDW! So excited! I can't be sure of course, but I think this is the room we will be in when we get there, or at least in this area, unless they move us in the meantime. I was just wondering if anyone has ever stayed in thsi room or rooms close by? I think it is a courtyard view of the pool. Any other info peopel can offer? Can we see the water parade from this room? Can we see any fireworks or the geyser? Thanks!

I was in Room 4166 last month. I think you should have a great view of the pool and geyser. One thing though- it is a hike from the lobby, at the very end of the hallway.

I am also wondering what makes you think you will be in Room 4166. Room assignments aren't done until a day or 2 (sometimes the day of) before your arrival. You might narrow it down to a floor or a certain side of the building based on whether you picked Concierge, Standard, Woods View, Courtyard, Suite, etc...maybe even alittle farther if you booked a bunkbed room and you know which rooms do a do not have those...but I don't get how you think you're going to be in 4166.

Having said that. The courtyard room wasn't all that it was cracked up to be in my opinion. The floodlights lighting up the pool area stay on until very late in the evening along with the area music that plays over the outside sound system. And the closer you are to the geyser the louder the bullhorn that blows right before it errupts will be...that will be going off every hour on the hour.

After staying in a Courtyard view room, a woods view, and a Honeymoon Suite (generous free upgrade) I think next time I will choose to stay in a Woods View again. The courtyard view was not worth the money to me.

Then again, if the budget wasn't a problem I would stay in the Honeymoon Suite every time!

You won't see any fireworks, I don't even thing you can see fireworks from the Woods View rooms facing the Magic Kingdom anymore since the trees have grown so tall. But you can walk out the front doors of the lobby and see some from out front. You might be able to see the TOP of the geyser but that's kind of off behind the pool...It depends how far towards the end of the Courtyard your room is.

You won't be able to see the Electrical Water Paegent from your room either (if it is indeed in the courtyard) but you'd be missing out if you didn't take the walk down to the beach to watch it from there anyway!

I don't really know where we will be, I just gave them my preferences and then gave the the area which I thought we would like to stay. I am not a psychic, just an optimist.

lol. ok. Fair Enough. I just don't want you to get your hopes up for that particular room and be suprised if you didn't get it!

All in all. Wilderness Lodge has been and will always be my favorite resort! Hope you guys enjoy your stay! Please CONFIRM with Disney your reservation and your requests before you head down there to make sure that everything is right with your reservation just go be safe!

I think they turn off the music at the pool area around 11pm. But I do believe the floodlights stay on all night...though the rooms have very thick and very dark shades to cover the door. I think the bullhorn for the Geyser stops going off at 11 as well. Both the Music and bullhorn will resume at 9am. (just want to make sure you're prepared for those!)

We just got back from WL and had a courtyard view, bunk bed room. We were in room 5053. It was nice because we had a view of the inner courtyard, but we were at the beginning of the wing so we weren't near the pool. Rather, we looked over the creek that begins in the lobby. It was very nice, but I would agree with the PP who said they prefer a woods view. IMO, it is not worth it to pay for the courtyard view. I would, however, pay for woods view b/c I wouldn't like looking at a parking lot or dumpster (standard view)

FTR, you can see fireworks from some rooms. I forget our room number from last year, but from our balcony you could see the top of the castle, the Contemporary, and a perfect view of the fireworks.

Something else to keep in mind - Giving a room location isn't a bad idea. It works best in a resort with specific areas like Port Orleans or Coronado Springs, but giving a room number doesn't help when you make the reservation. In fact, if you've requested a certain section, it can confuse the system.

I believe this was reported in the Unofficial Guide. They say the best way to get the room you want is to ask for a floor and a view.

Agreed! I'd take a wood view room over the courtyard everytime. In fact, the last couple times it has only been courtyward rooms that have been avaialble under the AP discount and that's a bit dissapointing for me.

And I don't like the fact that many of the former woods view rooms on the Villas side got reclassified as courtyward views a few years back.
