we were considering staying at wl for our next trip but i've recently been considering the polynesian (though i don't tend to hear much about this resort on these boards).

so which would you prefer to stay at? what are the benefits (and flaws) in staying at each of these?

thanks for the help :xmas:

Did you bother to read the room category you were looking at before posting that the room was $510 a night?

No, I just looked at what came up. It's interesting though that for the Poly an expensive category room comes up, but for the WL the lowest price room comes up. Are they trying to steer you toward a certain room type? Disney is to blame for my error. They don't ask you what room type you want, nor do they feature similar room types across resorts, causing confusion.

They give you an alternative for the GF, but when you click on that it's for Standard Room - Club Level and not Theme Park View. It comes up as $700 per night, but there's a Garden View for $410. The $420 at Yacht is for Water or Pool View, but not for Club Level. So it's very confusing since the price they feature is not for equivalent room types across resorts.

Not sure why you are having problems with that. When I do it, it very clearly lists the room categories that are available, and there is a circle next to each one that you click on if that is the room type you are interested in. It does automatically choose one to give you the total for, but it is very clear and obvious (at least to me) where the other room categories available are listed. Just click on the one you are interested in and it updates the total for you. But their website does leave much to be desired...which is why I never book online, personally. You are right, it can be very confusing.

Heading for the great escape.
What comes up may be related to availability and offers. This year I could only get concierge or standard, when I called they said that was all that was available for my dates.

Simples.

We've stayed at both resorts, but the Poly will always be home for us. We just returned from the Poly on Dec. 4, and were able to book 2 bounceback offers for 2010.

I think this is a classic vanilla vs chocolate question. That said, for me Poly would be the choice, based on monorail access to MK and EPCOT. I am DVC member and the cost to me is just too great to stay there but Poly has always been one of my fav's.

With all the choices at WDW for DVC, we also prefer Beach Club for same transportation issues. Walk or boat to Epcot and DHS. We just hate those long bus rides to the other resorts.

We love the WL, always has been one of our favorites, Poly never seemed as comfortable and cozy. Sitting in a rocker in front of the WL fireplace is a wonderful and relaxing place to be, there is no comparison.
