Wilderness Lodge or Bay Lake Towers

Starting to give some thought to our next trip....we will be doing a timeshare exchange just wondering if we should shoot for Wilderness Lodge or Bay Lake Towers. It is just hubby and me. We like the thought of BLT and being in the heart of it all and we like the thought of WL and getting away from it all. Your thoughts...

BLT is definitely the more luxurious. WL is probably our favorite place to stay because of the theming, but it's on the low end of deluxe resorts. BLT gives you access to the monorail at the Contemp and great views of the fireworks at MK. If it were just my wife and I, we'd do BLT.

I think it really comes down to those points you made...i.e. do you want to be in a place that feels more remote OR do you want it to be obvious that you're in the middle of the action? We've stayed at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge and while both are great resorts for their own respective reasons, I personally prefer Contemporary while DH prefers WL. Obviously BLT/Contemporary is a bit closer and has the convenience of the monorail, but with the boat at WL and it being an MK area resort- you're still very close. I don't know if theme/decor would sway you one way or another or if you could split your stay.

Either way- we're house divided here...so you've got 1 vote for BLT from me and 1 vote for WL from DH.

We have stayed at both. And I agree its all a matter of preference and what you guys want or looking for.

BLT's was great for our son, and yet at the same time it was to loud for him....but it was at the heart of the action, so he thought that was great.

But for myself, my husband and I prefer the Wilderness Lodge. Its close enough to the action that we could enjoy it, including the water parade at the time and it didn't take too terribly long to get to the parks. And at the same time, it gave us the quiet alone moments that we needed after the hustle and bustle and all of the day. I absolutely loved to just sit there and watch out the window.

Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong either way. I think you will find that no matter where you stay, its not so much the location but what you make out of it.

Both are great. VWL is probably our favorite because of the theme and the surroundings. Hidden Springs pool is a little piece of heaven on earth.

Themeing or luxury is the decision I think needs to be made.

Yep Di agree! We are avid Polynesian lovers and doing WL this upcoming trip. BLT is nice, very nice, but for an adult trip I would think WL would be better.

Hey Deb! We stayed at the Poly in 2010 and really enjoyed it, but the WL is even better! I think Bay Lake is nice but too ordinary, although I've never stayed there so I may be wrong! I don't sense that magic that other resorts have.

Same here Di. The WL is so lovely and relaxing, I could stay at the resort alone and still feel like I had a vacation....at least for a few days...LOL.

We like them both for different reasons.. Love Bay Lake simply because I can walk over to MK... Love WL because it is much quieter.. But if I had to choose it would be Bay lake... But its almost a tie...

OK we have stayed at both and for us, we liked WL over BLT from an atmosphere and themming satndpoint, we also felt it was more relaxing especially by the feature pool. BLT was greta beacue you could walk to MK and are on the monorail line. We end recently buying into DVC and we made the WL our home resort because we loved it so much more and it is still very easy to get to MK with our KGs in tow using the boats.

We've stayed at WL twice and in Sept we will be staying at BLT for the first time. What drew us to BLT was being on the monorail line and being able to walk to MK since we will be spending 2 days of a 5 day trip there (2 days at Epcot, and we can take the monorail there and 1 day at HS) We LOVE WL because the resort is so compact in size. Everything is right there in the 1 building. And the pool is great and the boat to MK is just so relaxing.

One of my dream resorts is BLT. That and Boardwalk. I'd go for BLT, especially since WL is considered the "least deluxe" of the deluxe resorts. Not that it isn't nice.
