Wilderness Lodge.....is there really a difference

We stay in the WL villas so I am not familiar with the views in the main part of the lodge, but I say take the extra night! Extra time at Disney is worth way more than your view, in my opinion!

I totally agree. While a great view can be awesome, extending your stay would be...awesomer.:lookaroun

WL is amazing, you're gonna love it.

Take the extra night!

The WL is one of my favs, and I've always had a Woods View. It's so peaceful. The courtyard view, while it has great views of the lake, can also be a bit loud b/c of the pool depending on your location.

I am in agreement with everyone else. Take the extra time. Are you really in your room enough to worry about a view - we are not. Our last view at WL was of some smoker house on the parking area. Didn't bother us a bit since we were at Disney.

Definately take the woods view, i too find it quieter and by the time you get back to your room you'll apprecaite not hearing the sounds of people splashing around the pool. Besides, extra nights!? C'mon you know you want the extra nights!!

Another concurrence....go for the extra night(s). How much time will you spend in your room to justify the cost of the view? We've stayed at Boardwalk a few times and have thought it over each time. Only once did we opt for their water view as we planned on de-stressing that year by hanging around the resort more. In that case, having a balcony overlooking the courtyard/water was very nice. But I can honestly say...that year we paid for it.

[Edit ]As a a side note, we are DVC members at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, so almost all the rooms there are wooded. I'll say it fits the theme and in my opinion, can be nicer to relax in the evening with the trees than the pool views. IMHO of course.

I'm with everyone else in saying take the extra night.
The only really bad view we ever had was 4th floor overlooking the dumpsters so we just spent less time in the room.

We splurged for a courtyard view last year....well not exactly splurged, but with the AP rates, the courtyard room cost less than the woods view we had booked. Although it was nice to look out onto the pool, it did get kind of loud, and they have HUGE BRIGHT flood lights on out there until 11pm along with music playing. We really ended up avoiding out balcony during the day because it was too loud for it to be peaceful out there.

though the WL pool area is quieted than the pool areal at a value resort!

Take the extra night and stay with a Woods View! it'll be alot more relaxing! Just make sure not to get a Standard View!

Next time ask for a view of the quiet pool/villas. Very tranquil even when the pool is full. Of course being on the 6th floor helps.

One of our WL trips was 'Woods View', and we had a very attractive view of the loading dock and the smokehouse. OF course, the other Woods View trip overlooked the quiet pool for the DVC villas. Luck of the draw I suppose. Next time if not Courtyard, I would take my chances on standard view when considering cost.

That view is now classified as a Courtyard View

and both the Villa and the Lodge share the pool.

You will love the WL! But just one word of caution to throw out to you. We stayed there this past April. Make sure you specify "woods View". We thought we had "woods view" but we got a standard view with our balcony over a loading dock with a view of the bus stop. The loading dock was busy as early as 5:30 a.m., so you could hear the trucks beeping to back in. Another thing was we faced the Whispering Canyon Cafe from our room, which stays pretty lively until 10:00 p.m. It in no way ruined our trip but we just made notes to selves that in the future we would like a different area! Have fun!!! (oh, and we were on the 6th floor)

I get a woods view every day by looking out the window.
Pine trees, some oaks, bushes, squirrels, birds, etc.
I would love to stay at WL sometime but I think I'd just go the cheapest way on the room itself.

A pine tree is a pine tree.

Good luck.

You have obviously never stayed there. It is the atmosphere that draws people in, not the pine trees. ;)

Just so everyone is on the same page...

The Standard View : generally faces the parking lot or driveway and sometimes the roof
Woods View : faces the woods towards the MK on one side and the Wilderness Lodge Villas on the other side
Courtyard View : looks out over one of the pools or Bay Lake

The two times we have stayed at WL we have gotten the woods view and loved it. Both times we have had rooms on the north side facing MK. Our trip last week, we were on the 5th floor right above the alligator pond. The kids loved watching the gator, turtles, and ducks in the pond, and we could easily see the fireworks at night. We would definately request that view again.

if i was in that sit. i would rather stay longer then upgrade my room .
ive stayed at the wilderness lodge and liked both rooms the same. if you really think about it, you hardly spend any time in the room

We stayed in a woods view room a number of years ago and had a view of a pretty pond that had a family of otters living in it! It was a much better view than we ever had of a courtyard:lol:

That does not hold true for everyone, there are people who use the room/resort for more than sleeping and showering.

We have stayed in rooms overlooking that little bog many times. Have you ever noticed that it goes very quiet around midnight? :lookaroun
