Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness bus from MK change

Effective yesterday, buses to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness from the Magic Kingdom have been relocated to the Transportation and Ticket Center until further notice. This is due to construction that will be done on bus load zones 1-5, which will cause other Disney buses to be moved around among the remaining Magic Kingdom load zones until some time in December.

we are staying at the WL next month and my question is this,the ttc is quite a ways from the lodge and campground.it would seem they would find a temp bus stop closer how are you supposed to get to the ttc its to far to walk.something doesnt seem right about this. 33 days and counting im so excited i just cant hide it:sohappy:

My strictly uneducated guess...so please don't flame me...would be that the reason the WL/FW busses were moved is that there is the boat option for getting to MK from them, which is IMHO a much nicer option anyway...
But hey, if the MK bus drops you at the TTC, one can think of that as another cool option for getting to Epcot, if the MK bus comes before the Epcot bus, take it to TTC and then take that oh so excellent Monorail ride to Epcot

When we were at WL last September, there were no buses to the MK. You could take the bus to TTC or the boats. Kinda wondering when they started the bus service to MK.

This is a little off topic, but am I crazy or did it used to be that all buses were at the TTC? This has been bothering me for some time. I remember in '99 with my friends having to go on the monorail each night and pick up our bus there. We did stay at Fort Wilderness that year, but I remember there being tons of busses there. I don't remember the bus depot in front of the MK at all. Is this the way it used to be?

The bus stops have been at the front of the MK for at least the last 12 years. When I went in 1994 after an absence of 8 years, the bus stops were there I was a day visitor in 1986 so came via the TTC/Monorail so can't vouch for when the bus stops were actually installed

I'm assuming that you would either take the ferry or the monorail to the TTC.

We found the bus MUCH quicker than the boat rom WL. The bus took 5 minutes and the boat took much longer because it went to FW first. Having to to to TTC then the monorail will probably mean more people will take the boat.

Darn, this is one of the reasons we choose WL was the two choices to the MK with a little one.

There didn't use to be a bus from the Magic Kingdom to WL, you had to go to the TTC. But the lines for the boat at the end of the night were always very very long.

I would always take the boat to WL or FW. Much nicer than the bus, anyway.

While the boats do in fact run from WL to MK, they do not run the same hours as the bus schedule, they basically stop at close thus we always have to go to the bus to get back. Same with the Monorail, they don't run the same schedule as the busses so if you stay around and shop after the parks are closed, what then?

This may in fact cause me to switch resorts as the morning is usually a 30-45 min wait for the boat and I can't even imagine trying to go to the TTA/Monorail at opening time in the morning...

So that I understand this correctly, you are saying that from Today until December, there will be no busses that go from the Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom, instead, you will have to take a bus from the Wilderness Lodge to the TTA and then boat/monorail to MK from there?

Not to mention that the Monorail can be down a couple times per week and roundtrip for the boats for load and unload is much longer...

I heard that the monorail ran 99.9% efficientcy and 99.8% during their bad weeks.

I've heard those numbers before from somewhere, but what exactly does that mean? Does effiency mean uptime? Or does it mean running on-time? Or does it mean something else? Efficiency can mean so much.

Also, 99% of what? twenty fours hours per day or just park operating hours?

Anybody with any inside information?

Although I am not entirely sure, it seems that these numbers would relate to cycle time on each beam and time at the stations. From a few days of being out on the platforms on my own now, I know that our load time is supposed to be 90 seconds or less on the Magic Kingdom beams (not sure about the Epcot beam), which we usually accomplish, even with wheelchair loading and/or a large number of Guests. (The little clock at the end of the platform shows us how we are doing.) That's why we ask all Guests during busy times to move all the way down and don't allow any last-second boarding even if there is still a little bit of room left on the train by holding Guests at the top of the ramp when a train is in the station. The closer we are to that time, the more likely that we will have each train get around the beam within the beam's cycle time. The managers here really do make it a point for us to keep the cycle time as a delay on one train can back up all the other trains on the beam.

The boats to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness stop running about 1:15 after the Magic Kingdom closes, the ferry boats sail until 45 minutes after park close, and the Express Monorail stops running about one hour after the park closes. The Resort Monorail runs for two hours after the last park close between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, though, in reality, when the Magic Kingdom closes last, the trains will continue to run until we get word from security that the last Guests have left the park. I know that the information that Guests get is a bit different from what I wrote, but that is how we operate things to make sure that no one gets stranded at the end of the day.

Also, mornings about two weeks ago (the last time that I worked mornings at the monorail) at the Transportation and Ticket Center were actually not bad at all, even with just the Resort Monorail running (as it starts running 1.5 hours before the Express Monorail does).

Until December, boats to the Magic Kingdom or bus to the TTC and a monorail or ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom will be your options to travel from Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom.

Well here's hoping you're right...

I'm not quite as concerned about getting back to WL after close although my experience with the boat to/from WL from MK has simply been that the dock was roped off and closed everytime I leave 1-1:15 after close but I'm confident the bus drivers won't make me walk...:wave:

I'm just worried about the morning commute when everybody is heading over and having tried to hit the dock in the morning and the line being Splash Mountain-ish we always ran to the bus stop, and was at the park in minutes. I've never hit the TTC in the morning so I'm not quite sure what to expect... but I'm thinking Main Street 3 minutes after Wishes...

Hopefully I'm wrong...

This doesnt really sound like a problem to me, unless I didnt read carefully enough.

There used to be NO bus to the MK from the wilderness lodge... the bus went to the TTC and you;d take the monorail or ferry from there to the MK. (back when there were only 2 buses, the Crockett and Boone... you had to go to the TTC to get everywhere!)

Then sometime later they added a bus directly to the MK as well as the other parks.

So for the time being it will just be like it was many years ago =p not really a big deal to make the extra stop or wait a few more min for the next boat. I dont really remember it being a hassle back then.
