Wild Africa Trek- is it worth it?

Hi guys!

Going to the World March 1-March 6. Planning our AK trip for March 3rd. My GF has her heart set on the
Wild Africa Trek tour. I was trying to get out of buying her an expensive dress for her birthday and suggested this as an alternative. This didn't deter my girlfriend away from the dress, but rather convinced her she deserved both. I priced out the tour for our date...and the final number is *DRUM ROLL* 400 DOLLARS!!! :greedy::in pain::banghead:. She has broken down and offered to pay her half...but I am somewhat frugal and this decision is KILLING me. Anyone participate in this tour, and if so would you say its worth the hefty price tag? I've looked at reviews and they are all pretty good but seemed like the Pixie Dust snorters spammed the review board so I can't trust it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks to Master Yoda, I've edited my original post to remove some elements that made this post seem a little fiesty :)

They take photos of you the whole time. We got the pictures (on a disk) about two weeks after we got home. The pictures were amazing. They did a great job of getting pictures of everyone. My husband also took pictures too with our camera. The Tour guide also took pictures of us with our camera too.

Well..after glancing around the Disney tour page you get breakfast and lunch that could cost $75 to $100 out of pocket. Plus you get all the photos they take. Maybe value that at $50? And you get some kind of "souvenir ". Factor those costs and you could consider the actual tour costing you around $50 per person.

I can never get myself to do these tours because I've already paid for a park ticket and wife would rather eat at a couple table restaurants instead.

I know for me at least, once your number of park visits gets into 3 digits, you kind of want to see the parks in a different way. Tours are a great way to do that.

Just wanted to mention that you don't get both breakfast and lunch (I wish). The menus listed are for the time of day you are taking the tour.

My wife and I did this on our trip in October. Just to clarify some things, as Betsyboo said, you get one meal on the Trek. There is a photographer with you on the Trek that will take lots of photos of both the animals and the people on the Trek. They no longer send you a disc though. You get a password for the Wild Africa Trek website to download all the pictures(and also some stock pictures taken on other treks) The souvenir you receive is a stainless steel water bottle that you carry with you on the tour.We also got some cooling towels on ours but I don't know if that was only because it was so hot when we went. You are free to bring a camera with you as well as long as it can be attached to your harness while you are moving. My wife loves the safari so for us it was worth spending the money on.

I took my agents on this when we had a private training session at WDW (@masteryoda too) and everyone absolutely loved it!! I think it is well worth the money for anyone that wants to do a little something more than just the parks.

Definitely go with the earliest one. When Master Yoda and I went, we were there in the morning and it was wonderful. Here are a few pictures from our trek! 420788_10150492456187827_430305638_n.jpg trek38.jpg trek18.jpg trek16.jpg 416937_10150492459937827_720407826_8982441_498574663_n.jpg

Oh that is awesome Kingdom!! I think I figured out my plan. I'll tell her we are definitely not going due to price of the tour. She will be upset and hate me for at least 2-3 days. Then Valentine's Day I surprise her with some Lion King plush from local Disney store and tell her that I've booked the tour for March 4th! I go back to being an awesome boyfriend.

If you remember Betsy, check back with me after you get back and let me know how it went for you!
Hey @mschmitt1217 WAT was WONDERFUL! We had a wonderful time. I surprised my husband on Tuesday night and we did the tour on Wednesday of last week. Our guides were Paola and Abbie. The pictures are great (just downloaded today) and make sure you ask for pictures of the two of you at different points through the Trek. Our tour was the 8am and the food was wonderful. I tried several foods I've never had before and really enjoyed it. We actually had only 7 in our group, the other 5 didn't show (too bad they're out all that $$$). Hope you have a great time!

I was going to ask a question on this but maybe someone will answer it here. I can save 106.00 by booking the 11:45 time slot instead of the morning one. Has anyone done the afternoon one? Is it too hot for the animals to be out? is it worth the extra 106.00 to do the morning one? Thanks :)
