Wicked: Part One

I am surprised there is no thread for this movie.

I just saw the new Wicked movie. After seeing the road show for the Broadway musical several times, I was skeptical to whether they could pull this off.

I thought they not only captured the essence of the Broadway show, but brought the magic of film making to the table. I think it is fantastic. Erivo as Elphaba knocks it out of the park, and Grande is shockingly good as Glinda. We all knew Grande can sing, but her acting and comedic timing is a delight.

Highly recommend.

I got to see it last night. It was a cinematic masterpiece! I’m so glad I got to see the stage version of it years ago. Now a lot’ve people says Wicked Part 1 is a one of the contenders for an Oscar for Best Picture. But I would suggest they wait until Part 2 comes next year. Anyway, I’m a big fan of Wicked, and I’m still upset it didn’t win a Tony Award for Best Musical 20 years ago!
