Why This Resort!

Ok everyone. As I enjoyed a few drinks with friends at my local last night,I was asked why I have stayed at the same resort on my last three vacations and not tried a different one. I had to ponder over this question but my reason for returning to PORS is that I'am afraid if I try a new resort I'll regret not sticking to my favourite. I just love everything about Riverside. The location of the resort, the grounds, the river, the mansion buildings, the boat to downtown, the food court,Fultons shop,Boatwrights, the riverside walk to FQ,the swimming pools,in fact there's not one thing I don't like about it. So for those of you who return to your favourite resort each trip. Why? What makes you stay faithful to your favourite.?

We were 'forced' to try something new our last trip when POR was booked solid for our trip. The only other Mod avail. was CBR. We chose a Pirate Room, and had a great time! IMO, it doesn't compare to POR, but I liked the theming, they did a great job on the Pirate Room, and we loved that the quiet pool was right across from our room. I did miss POR, but we made the best of it.

Our next trip will be back to POR in a Royal Room, but we are going to stay a few days at WL as well at the husbands request. Due to the high cost (unless we get a room discount) we will only be at WL for two days or so and POR the rest of the trip, but I think this is the way to go...the only way I'd not stay at POR anymore is for an upgrade to a Deluxe!

Me too, I am in the process of trying every resort at least once, so I have yet to repeat a stay at any one resort. Here is what I like from each resort I have vacationed at and whether I would stay again:
POP: Price, bar by the pool, theming. Yes I would stay again if my focus was mainly park time/or budget would not accomodate a mod or deluxe.
CBR: Hammocks on the beach. Doubtful I would stay again.
CSR: Hammocks on beach, salon/spa, beauty of resort, nice rooms. Yes I definitely will stay at CSR again!
BC: Location to Epcot, perfectly functioning WIFI in room, awesome pool, great lounges, Cape May, Beaches&Cream, wonderful views across lake looking at BWI. This could end up being my fav resort. Wasn't anything I didn't like. Can't wait to stay again!
AKL: Beautiful lobby, best staffing of all resorts in terms of friendliness/happiness/service, excellent restaurants, and an awesome pool with wonderful pool workers. Yes I would stay again for grandkids but only for a short stay and only over weekends.
POLY: WONDERFUL Hawaiian motifs, beautiful grounds, awesome restaurants, great coffee available, best qs restaurant, large rooms, large bathrooms, lots of drawers, monorail, proximity to MK, EWP at nite. I have more I can list. POLY was kind of love at first sight...when we stayed at POP the Lilo & Stitch breakfast at Ohana's was the first character dining we did and when I walked into the POLY...it was kind of all over for me. If I hadn't stayed at BC eventually POLY would be my "home away from home". I will stay here again just as soon as my budget can take that hit.
DOLPHIN: One night only because we weren't ready to leave the world after 6nites at POLY. Loved it. Loved lobby, loved bed, loved starbucks coffee and water in rooms, loved Mandara Spa so close, kids want to love the pool and playground but too cold. Will definitely stay again, we don't think 1 nite qualifies as a stay so it gets to stay on list.

Going to stay at your home away from home this May Hatter and cannot wait! All of the PORS/POFQ people have totally sold me on these properties. VERY EXCITED!:)

We also love many of the resorts, but always find ourselves back at Old Key West. Why? The atmosphere. We have found it to be far and away the quietest of the resorts. Both in terms of the actual volume of noise in the guest rooms and also the intensity of activity. Not to say there aren't tons of activities going on, but even the pool party seems much more laid back than at other resorts. Since our time in the parks tends to be GO-GO-GO, we like our resort time to be calm and cool. As a family that always drives to DW and tends to drive to and from the parks, we like that it is quite central in terms of drive time to Epcot, MK, and DHS. And you can't beat the nice boat ride to DTD.

While I have my favs, we like to try a new resort each time. Each resort is an experience, a different experience than the last one. The resort makes each trip different so we like that. I have only stayed at one resort twice and that is because I stayed there but my family did not and I love it anyway. After we have stayed everywhere we will make the rounds again and stay where we liked the most.

I understand that you may be wiry about staying somewhere that isn't familiar but don't be. I have only stayed at one Disney resort that wasn't so great and it wasn't the fault of the resort or the staff, but rather more of the clientele visiting. So, give somewhere else a whirl. You may be pleasantly surprised. ;)

I have tried almost all of the resorts except for POP and AA. When I try something new I like to break my vacation up. I will spend 3 nights at a new resort and 4 at a resort I am familiar with an love. This allows me to try a new resort and not be stuck at it if I end up not caring for it.(CS is not my cup of tea) That being said there is just a comfort level you get from staying at your favorite resort. All the happy memories you made over the years. For me that's the GF. I am only hoping with all the construction that it does not lose its magic. I am very concerned about the resort and the pools being over crowded. That was always one of the nice advantages of staying at Disneys top end resort. Low crowds.

We are working our way through all of them. The excitement of staying at a different place outweighs the fear of not liking it as much as the last place. In Sept. of this year we are going to BLT for the first time, last Sept. it was SSR, the Oct. before that it was VWL...and each trip was wonderful.
Several years ago, our first Deluxe was Boardwalk and we loved it...thought we would always go back there, then decided, no we want to experience other places...and if we had kept the mindset of always going back to Boardwalk, we would have missed SSR, VWL, BCV, OKW, A0A and others.
Heck, we even like to camp, and you can't really compare that to any place else...but while we are at Ft. Wilderness, it is the best place there, because we are there enjoying it and savoring the experience, not missing out on what or where we could be instead.

My wife is a creature of habit so we almost always end up at the same place.
I also worry that I will regret not going back to a favorite hotel. For me, the vacation takes a lot of coin and thus I want it to be as perfect as I can make it. If I've enjoyed it in the past, I'll sign up at that resort yet again. I understand wanting to try other resorts but I like familiarity.
That is exactly how she feels. I on the other hand am always hey lets stay here or lets stay there! But whats that old saying, happy wife = happy life. ;) :p
