Why This Resort?

So you make your decision what resort to stay at.But what is your number one reason for picking that particular resort. Is it the price? Or the location ? I've often wondered what is the main reason when deciding where to stay.

Price. We always have a budget to work with based on the amount we've saved and set aside for vacation expenses since our last trip. We also keep our eyes open for room discounts or free dining. We've been able to stay at a mix of moderates and deluxes based on our budget, the deals available at the time, and the timing of our vacation (peak or off-peak).

Value only. We have priced the Mods before but with 6 adults we had rather have 2 value rooms for girls and guys than cram 6 into a suite. A place to park our suitcases, sleep and shower is all that we require. We don't spend much time at the resorts when the "World" is waiting.

We are DVC members so $ is not a factor. We are a AKL family all the way. There is no other place like it... but my next choice would be the Poly hands down.

I loved the lobby at AKL and the fact it has 3 of what I consider top ten restaurants in WDW.The only downside I feel is that its in a remote location. My opinion only.:)

I would say our first factor is price. Obviously, I love Wilderness Lodge. But, if it's the difference between going and not going, I'll go for a moderate or value. Once I establish my price range, then it's all location if we're in a deluxe. We love MK, so the easier it is for us to get there, the better. If we're not in a deluxe, then location doesn't really matter since none of them are convenient to MK, so then it becomes the size of the hotel. We don't like walking long distances once we're out of the parks. So, needless to say, we won't stay at Coronado again. We'd opt for the french quarter if we were in that price range. We don't really care too much about the theming of a hotel, for what it's worth...

VALUE! But value to us doesn't always mean "Value Resort". We value our time and comfort as well as our budget. If we are only going to be there for a short trip 1 or 2 nights then we are more likely going to be spending most of our time at the parks and a resort such as Pop Century or one of the All Stars works fine for us the high energy at these resorts really keep us going. Now lengthen our trip to 3-5 days and we will be probably be slowing things down a bit and spending more time relaxing so we will be looking at either Coronado or Caribbean Beach were it's a little more quieter and laidback.

Price, peaceful, best value. The fort, even if you don't have an RV now. There are places to rent a pop up with AC and the site for about $110 a night for up to 8, yes I said 8, people. Actually you can have 10 on a site for the same price. You can't beat that with a stick on price. It is also very peaceful and quiet and also has a lot to do right there. Try your hand at archery, or horseback riding or a number of free things to do, like meeting Chip & Dale every night at the sing-along and outdoor movie, complete with toasted marshmallows and hot dogs if you want. If you want to spend some of your "extra money" on a golf cart, that's a blast! Don't worry about bugs, they spray continuously. They even have fishing! Hands down in my book, it's the Fort. Oh and for holidays, they can't be beat! Most people decorate their campsites and you wouldn't believe all the decorations. Think Griswald!
