Another poll?

Of course, but this one is not the average cut and dry, oh no, this one has lots of gray matter in between the lines...

Say you had just completed a long but fun day of shopping at Downtown Disney, and with packages in hand race to your bus stop to catch the next one to your resort. But, while waiting, you see a car of people stop in front of you, park, and get in line for your bus. Now thoughts run through your head that maybe, just maybe, these people are not resort guests and are just hitching a free ride to the parks. Chances are, this happens every day.

But, what if some people cannot really afford to pay for parking? Do you have the heart to maybe burst some small childs first time at Disney World over something so petty?

But...You paid to stay at the resort, and with that, paid for the right to use the system, not some freeloader.

It is a question of morals or circumstance?

You decide.

I'm not sure what you're asking here - would it bother me to see that happen? Not really - if they're not bothering me, what's the big deal?
Would I do that? Probably not, but right now I can afford the parking fees.

To me, this is just pointless.

Would it bother me? Someone who thinks that the rules don't apply to them, or who is too cheap to pay for parking? If you can afford WDW, you can afford $11 to park. I think all bus passengers should be checked for resort ID upon boarding. Either that, or you could convince Disney not to charge for parking.

YES, it bothers me.

The point is, is it right for non resort guests to use the Disney bus service, and the argument of why they would.

I thought I pointed that out rather well.

Heading for the great escape.
If Disney isnt asking passengers to show room keys at boarding I would hazard that they dont view it as a problem, so I shant be throwing any teddies from the pram either.

Not to be rude but I think your point is not about day guests using WDW transportation (which of course they are allowed to do) but rather about guests parking at Downtown Disney to avoid the parking fee at the parks. For me if someone would rather spend 20 min waiting at DTD for a bus, then take a 10 min ride to a resort, then wait another 20 min at the resort for a bus to the correct park, then take a 20 min ride to the park, THEN do it all again on the way home just to save $11, I say go for it.

In over 45 visits of going to WDW, as resort guests, I don't believe we have ever been asked to show our resort ID. It's up to Disney to police this, and obviously they feel it is bad public relations or a time factor, so they don't do it.

Ugh! I just the enter button and didn't mean to...or more specifically my 7 month old hit the button! I did not mean to vote no. I didn't want to vote at all because of the reason given with the yes or no on the poll. I think it isn't as cut and dry as yes or no.

Do I think it is right for people to park at DTD and take the busses to side step paying? No not really. Disney has rules in place and I think if you are going to step onto their property you should follow the rules. Just the same as having to follow the laws in our society whether you like them or not.

Would I call out a person for doing this? Absolutely not. If they aren't acting obnoxious or taking up a seat on a full bus, I could care less. As a PP stated, if a person wants to take up all that extra time just to save $11 so be it.

Honestly, the more I look at the question, I should have put an undecided option.

Sue me, I had a loooooong night.

Since this is about parking, I will ask my question, lol. In June/July I am going to Disney with my family and staying off property for the first time (only because we got a free timeshare for a week, lol.) If you go to say MK in the morning and pay the $11 and then leave to go back to your hotel or something, if you come back later in the day do you have to pay $11 again or is that original fee for the day?

Just save the reciept you get when you pay initially. You can use it again later that day to park at any Disney theme park.

I"m not voting at all, b/c well, I don't want to, but let me just add that when I bought my park tickets and made ADRs the Disney staff told me that if I have park tickets I am allowed to use the bus system, NOT if I had reservations at one of their hotels.
But since Disney owns the buses, why does it matter to anyone other than them who rides them. In other words, if they're not checking, it's obviously not that important.
For us, it's a matter of convienance on one day, where moving the car with three kids would be a huge hassle from where we are going to be to a park, and all the other days we'll pay to park, but I guess I just don't really see why it matters so much to people.

I remember back in 93 on a trip with my parents we had to show resort ID to get on the bus. But that was only from our resort and that was Treehouse.

Personally I've always thought that the parking fee was ridiculous anyway. I'd much prefer that they just get rid of the parking fee all together, or make it something reasonable like 3 dollars. 11 dollars is ridiculous to just park.

As I understand it, it takes 2 different bus rides to accomplish this each way. Figure 20 minute wait for the first bus then a 15-20 minute ride to the resort, another possible 20 minute wait for the next bus to the park and a 15-20 minute ride to the park. We are talking about well over an hour each way. Just not worth it to me. After a long day at the park with tired kids, the walk from the bus stop or parking lot to the room is bad enough. If someone would rather spend all that time riding a bus then have at it. I would rather get the value out of my ticket.

Never been to ANY Zoo, amusement park, museum, expo center, or major attraction, that didnt charge for parking. If there is one, its rare, or a small venue. For any of these to aborb the cost of running a parkin lot, with all that is involved in maintenece , security, lighting, and in Disney's case, trams, would mean yet another ticket price increase, These attractions, over the years have obviusly found it better to charge a parking fee then fold these costs into the price of admission. Its only $11 dollars, or for a family of four, just pretend the park ticket cost you $2.75 more per person. Disney could always get rid of the lot trams, lights, signs, security, cubs, saftey barriers, plantings, direction paintings, and have large gravel or grass fields, oh, and no orange cones, and charge nothing too. On site guests spend more, so the costs for parking are assumed absorbed in those expenditures for food, lodging, etc.

If guests want to screw around with Disney transportation just to save that $11 then they probably shouldn't be at WDW to begin with. You're wasting between 60-90 minutes getting from DTD to the park.

I'm not sure about this one, because we drive to a park, pay and then enjoy that park for as long as we'd like. If we're going to park hop, we have two options, we could either get back in our car and drive to that park (which doesn't cost more money, parking is a one day pass, or we could hop a bus and then have to hop a bus back to the original location later on to get our car.

We've done both but its usually easier (and less crowded) to just take our car to the next park.
