Why no simple dark rides in Galaxy's Edge?

Hard disagree. Mickey's Runaway Railway is a fantastic addition.
I haven't actually been on it (my family didn't go on it because the lines were too long), but from what I've seen, I'm not impressed. It just looks so soulless and sloppily-made.
Also feel Rat is a great dark-ride addition. Once we boarded and started gliding and heard that beautiful music, I got the same feelings as I do riding Peter Pan.
Ratatouille isn't all that impressive either. You spend so much of the ride just parked in front of a screen. If you're just going to do that, there is no point in making it a dark ride, just make it a simulator. It's just a waste of the trackless technology and all it succeeded in doing was making my family nauseous.

Hard disagree. Mickey's Runaway Railway is a fantastic addition. We rode it 2 times last trip and can't wait to get back on it. Very charming, very silly, very fun. Way, way better than Pooh or Buzz.

All that to say, MK is sorely lacking in dark rides compared to Disneyland. I don't understand why they can't do copies of Pinocchio or Alice over at MK.

Is Dreamflight what If You Had Wings became?
Yes. Eastern was the first "Official Airline" partner to WDW. Then it was Delta.
"If You Had Wings" really stirred my yen to travel. I did become a travel agent for 10 yrs before teaching.

Think about it...Peter Pan's Flight is from that era & a very similar experience. Now it's an hour+ wait stand-by some days & lots of folks rope-drop there first thing!

I think the new tech-heavy stuff is great, but I'm not sure those fans are as attached to Disney branding as they are to the IP it represents. Not sure that holds up for future gens the way trad/classic Disney has.

They could even build a Buzz Lightyear clone, populate the ride with AA Stormtroopers and Imperial Walkers, and let you rack up the best score you can while being chased by Darth Vader and his Inquisitor Third Sister.

Well..... Rise really should have been an advanced Omnimover attraction imho. Would have been better capacity, better reliability, and maybe with the money saved from the trackless tech they could have afforded some real special efx like fire, cryo, lasers, etc.

I can't see that land succeeding without it.

There wouldn’t be much of a change.... the trackless tech. Does very little for the attraction.
While I agree it doesn't make a big change, the drop and the loading would be impossible without it. The different stages of the ride make it unique. A bantha omnimover around the land would be cool to me.

Add some more missions to smugglers run, that'd help the land a lot imo
I am also confused why there's only one version of the ride. I mean, obviously money, but it seems dumb.

Then again, I think many attractions could be improved if WDW had made multiple versions. Star Tours has additions, but the additions came too late. It is a way better ride than it used to be, but the original version made many people sick, and they won't ride it now.

Another thing I'd like to see in GE is more unique greenery. The plantings are boring, and they don't add much. Compare the greenery in GE to the unique look of US's Seuss-land, or the fun WDW had with the World Showcase.

IMO dumbing down attractions so more can ride it is one of the things I hate. There is no rule that says every attraction has to be made so everyone can ride it.

I agree that they need more of these smaller dark rides, though my impression is that they don't build them anymore because costs at WDI have spiralled so far out of control that it's hard for them to justify these attractions that just soak up rather than driving attendance (or now Lightning Lane spending).

If I remember correctly, even Mermaid with its plastic fish and turtles cost over $100million. They seem to struggle to build anything for much below that price tag anymore.

While this is true, I don't know if it's a great example because I don't think they ever intended for Mermaid to be a smaller C ticket. I think their goal was a high quality D, or possibly even an E, which would make more sense with that budget.

They just didn't build a ride worthy of that status.

True, though it also shows what $100million gets them these days.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any ideas for the budgets of other recent attractions like MMRR, Navi River Journey, or even Slinky? Just curious as we all know Guardians has an insanely high budget, but I would be interested to have an idea of how much attractions are costing more broadly these days.

Id like it if they added a walkthrough museum style exhibt with rotating exhibits of star wars movie props and stuff. also maybe move the star war launch bay stuff in as well and use those massive spaces for something much better.
