Why no Jaws replacement announcement?

Speculation is rampant that Jaws will be replaced by Phase 2 of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, sometimes referred to as WWOHP2. Even though Jaws was closed over 2 months ago and demolition on the site is well underway, there's been no official announcement of what's replacing it. What are the possible reasons why Universal is delaying an announcement?

Some possibilities:

1. Ticket sales - If (for example) Universal announces that WWOHP2 is opening in 2014, is Universal concerned that people will delay their next vacation until then, hurting ticket sales in 2012 and 2013?

2. Timing - Is the timing of the announcement planned to coincide with another major announcement (for example, a new book by J.K. Rowling)?

3. Incomplete plans - Are the plans for the Jaws replacement incomplete at this time? Does Universal want to wait until the plans are complete before announcing the replacement?

4. Cost of operating Jaws - Was Jaws simply too expensive to operate, perhaps in need of an expensive overhaul?

5. Undecided replacement - Has Universal decided on what's replacing Jaws?

6. No replacement - Perhaps no replacement is planned for Jaws?

Any other suggestions?

Universal recently filed grading plans for the site so they clearly have plans to build something there, and the plans seem consistent with what is rumored to be in WWOHP2. I am guessing it's a combination of 2 and 3.

Universal has already announced and-or opened a new parade, night-time show, Blue Man Group production, Spider-Man refresh, and the new Despicable Me attraction. Why announce Potter now when they can do it after all of that gets up and running?

The rumor is Universal will be announcing the new Potter expansion on the 2nd anniversary of Wizarding World in June... I can see them doing that... I can, however, also see them holding off and announcing is in the fall... I won't say why... :animwink:

I guess there is no need to announce it yet. It won't be open anytime soon, right? If a family is planning a trip in 2012 or 2013 to see the current WWoHP they might delay the visit if they know it will be doubled in size soon after.
However, if they don't know that they will visit, later find out about the expansion and more than likely return again.

That's why I keep thinking they will wait to announce it...

Mhmm.

They've already got enough going on. They can afford to delay this announcement. The first HP phase still has enough hype/excitement that they can ride for AT LEAST a few more months, if not more.

just my guess
they are waiting for Disney's next announcement so they can one up Disney (again)

That is pretty much another outlook on it and a huge benefit for sure. In June when the rest of Fantasyland opens they can announce the big project. It will steal some of the thunder.
