Why no entry chime?

I'm just wondering, why is there no entry chime at WDW when you enter a park and successfully authenticate? At Disneyland those machines have audio queues that are wonderful for someone like me, basically because I can't see the light on top of the card reader.

I could see several reasons they may not have them, including differences in equipment, and annoying people in a 50 person deep line with the same sound over and over again.

Just wondering,
Ryan

I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind that. I guess I never really thought about it that much. But maybe you should write a letter to guest communications explaining your situation and how much the chime would help those who can't see too well.

That's a good question. I lived in LA for many years and have seen the line to get into Disneyland/DCA way long than I have ever seen them here at WDW. I never found the sounds annoying...they were actually very cool.

On more than one occasion at WDW I've inserted my card and fingers, had the card spit back out, then proceeded to walk directly into the locked turnstyle, practically flipping over it.

Then to add insult to inury, the nearest cast member comes over and has to slowly explain to me how the biometric reader works and that I need to insert my fingers...then takes the my card from me and inserts it for me.

Yes, the chime would be nice.

at least they didn't give you their best Chris Tucker impression: "Do you understand the words that are comin' outta my mouth?!"

I'm always expecting that. I stand for 10 mins behind a group of people that have never used the bio scanner before. Constantly eyeing the other lines to see if one is moving faster, making sure I'm not behind a stroller, wheelchair, or family with 2 or more children...wishing they had a VIP line for just me.

Then I get up there and somehow botch the entire thing and slam my groin into the turnstyle bar. Serves me right, Mr. Impatient.

Or perhaps they don't have a chime because they don't want you to know that the bioscanners don't work half of the time and the CM at the entrance turnstyle manually ejects your card and admits you into the park.

Just an observation, when our son went in the line, he did not have to put his hand in the bio device, just his card and zipped on through. Sadly, he was quicker than my wife:lookaroun . Just kidding, somehow, her hand / finger scan would not take and they had to reset her on one of the days.

Probally because the DL turnstyles can accept barcodes, much like the grocery store, it beeps after a successful scan.

Same reason the FP machines don't require you to fully insert the ticket, just a scan, as it just reads the barcode. I think the FP distribution goes much quicker at DL than WDW. Also, many people know exactly how to work FP at DL. A light cue tells you when the ticket has been accepted at DL and the FP distribution consoles.

It would be cool at WDW! Maybe even a light coming on over the turnstyle, although that might cause major headaches at nightime.
