Is this a missed opportunity or too big of a liability? I'd defiintely fly Disney Air! :sohappy: Airlines could use a little competition in the customer service dept, if you ask me!

Its completely an "opportunity" that Disney, nor anyone in their right mind, would want -- its break-even AT BEST, and usually money-losing.....

They have stayed away from it for a reason -- it would be a rotten money-snakepit of an "opportunity"....

Maybe it is just me, but I can't see many companies paying an extra $50 so their CEO could be served soda by Cinderella.

You're right....our corporate bean counters would never go for it. However, if I'm expected to pay $9 for a better seat, $25 to check my bag (even being a frequent flier), and pay for a pillow, I''m not too proud to say I would cough up the $50 myself to have a flight attendant dressed like Cinderella serve me drinks. Win, win, and win. :sohappy:

One thing to keep in mind that hasn"t been mentioned. Disney doesn't go into anything to lose money. So if they were crazy enough to start an airline what they would lose in cost would be made up in the price of your resort and park tickets. Don't know about you but, I dont want to pay more just to say i flew on Disney Airlines

Disney seems to be talented at getting people to pay more for things, so I'd buy that maybe they could charge a premium for their tickets. There's just too much risk, though. Sorry to be grim, but imagine this:

While I don't think it is a bad idea, I do think it isn't feasible. If I'm Disney, I'm going to want to maximize my value as an airline. To do that, a private airport on property would be my priority. Passengers aren't going to pay more to fly Disney Air unless they can get something you can't get on a different airline. Being able to minimize travel time may be a start, but what else could they offer uniquely?

Between the start up costs to build an airport and running the airline, I don't see it being profitable unless you have multiple flights out of major local and international hubs. I just don't see the demand. I agree with the idea of having a preferred partner that only offered Disney in-flight entertainment, but that's about it.

Plus, does Disney want to run the risk of an accident of those proportions on property? No way.

Having previously worked in the airline industry, I can answer your question with a simple joke.

Q: How do you become a millionaire?
A: Start out as a billionaire and buy an airline.
