Why no Bambi?

Years ago, I had an idea for a Bambi ride. It would start in a rabbit den, and you go up out of the den and see newborn Bambi with his mother. Then you go to an icy patch where the ride vehicle spins around like Bambi on ice. Then there's a forest "fire", in which somehow the ride vehicle "jumps" over a fallen tree or two to escape. Finally, it goes back to a peaceful forest setting. I thought it would be good for the now extinct Camp MinnieMickey at Animal Kingdom.
Sounds brilliant. Love it.

I had a similar idea like this if a Woodland land was ever built in AK but instead focused on Thumper.

I still have the rabbit den idea as an indoor meet and greet area for guests to meet Thumper and Miss Bunny.

Another one that's tough: Old Yeller

If you (general) haven't seen it, it's worth checking out.
I sobbed seeing Old Yeller, and thought I could handle it as an adult. Sobbed again. No little trickle of tears, no lump in throat... Full on snorting sobs with all the accompanying body fluids...

Another thing about Bambi: Most people, myself included as a child, think, "Oh those evil hunters!!!!"

I remember as a kid that a friend and his father went out hunting and shot a deer. They brought it back and tried to get me to taste it and I thought, "No! Bambi!" (also, Bambi is a boy - not a girl. Bambi is a stripper girl's name, though, oddly enough).. Anyway, I tried it and thought, "Holy crap! Bambi is delicious!" I don't have venison all that often but when I do I freaking enjoy it.

Deer are everywhere. They're delicious. There is no chance of them being extinct in our future. I wish I could pick it up at the local grocery store because it's something besides cow, pig, chicken, or fish (though there are a variety of fish with a variety of flavors).

I honestly think it's because the movie is too adult, darkish, subtle and generally 'unadaptable' to any kind of attraction. It's a beautiful and moving film. If you find it boring or 'lame' you need to mature a bit, then watch it again.
I hope the company just doesn't even try.

I like to think that, at 40, I'm pretty mature but Bambi still bores the pants off me every time I watch it!

I just don't think there is a lot of positive, memorable, or iconic material to work with. It wasn't a musical. The movie's namesake isn't the most adored or personable character in the film. The environment in which the movie takes place is not exotic. It's similar to The Fox and the Hound in those respects. Not really bad films, just hard to translate into a theme park as a primary attraction.

True, I'm surprised Flower didn't return to the parks since Thumper returned for Bambi 2 promotion at AK in 2007. Flower hasn't been seen since the 70's.

Nothing says character meet and greet more than one with a skunk Cute skunk, but still a skunk. Seen several Thumpers around. Two were in the process of making more Thumpers...told them to get a room, but they couldn't afford full rack rates. ;)

True, but the question was more based on the fact that I've recently watched Bambi and done some internet research about its background and legacy. All the reviews will tell you what a masterpiece it is; the fact that 'Man' is one of the greatest Disney villains; that the death of Bambi's mother is a shared traumatic incident for a whole generation of adults and yet there is hardly anything in the theme parks reflecting this legacy.

I'm a member of that generation. And it didn't traumatize me. 'Cause it was a CARTOON! Old Yeller, now that's a different story
