Why Is This Site So Slow?

Steve, ever since you added that toolbar, this site has been extremely slow for me. It takes me about 5 minutes to post something anymore. Why is this?

They ( the toolbar up top, and pics down below) eat up more of your processing resources on your computer. I had the same prob.

Go into your "User CP"

Go to Edit Options

Scroll down and select "Blue Daylight - No Toolbar"


And then things sould move quite a bit faster for you

What PCs are you guys using? I have not been able to reproduce the problem here. The toolbar adds about 1 second per page load while it initialises, but I cannot recreate a severe slowdown even on my slowest machine (a PIII 500Mhz).

PII 350 MHZ with a cable modem here and it makes a 30 to 45 sec. difference.

Me too PII 350MHZ Win98 Cable modem ...It takes around 45-60 seconds longer for me to load a page.

ditto.... Pentium II with MMX 350Mhz maxed out memory at 288MB RAM... Broadband connection that hovers in between 350kpbs and 900ish kbps.

Thanks for the info. The common theme there is the PII. Unfortunately I dont have a PII with which to test it with, but it would appear from what you are saying that the menu system has some major issue with the PII CPU. Well there's a good reason for you to upgrade!
