Why is everyone so obsessed with a new E-ticket ride?

I think the fascination with E-tickets results from the fact that when a land is left to stagnate for a long enough amount of time (World Showcase, parts of Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom), many people see E-tickets as the fastest and most efficient solution to revitalizing that part of the park. Though that might be true to a degree - it certainly was for Animal Kingdom when it got Everest - I think it's also true that sometimes a park is in a greater need of multiple, simpler C- or D-tickets than a single budget-breaking E-ticket. I think World Showcase or Hollywood Studios might be a good example of those.

Perhaps because WDW is the most visited resort on the planet...

and whether it be a dark ride, a special effects show or rollercoaster...

every attraction should be as exciting as it can be and the attention to detail to go along with it.

I will agree with most of what has been said here on both sides.
E-ticket attractions do seem to bring in more bang for the buck.

But I also agree that a couple of smaller d and c attractions can't hurt.

In my mind, what I believe Disney really needs a new commitment to theme, or to themed areas.

The Wizarding World at IoA has really only one E-ticket type ride (not counting the repaint job of the dragon coaster) but what I think is making it so successful...is that the whole land is an immersive experience, with amazing detail, and architecture, and a couple of little attractions to suppliment the big one.

Disney needs to step up, and create "lands" again...even mini-lands...that encompass all the details of an immersive experience. Even if that land doesn't have a true E-ticket...but just a couple of well designed rides and shows ...I think people would be happy again.

I agree it matters less if it is an E-Ticket and more that it is themed and detailed as fully as possible. That's the biggest reason I'm excited about the new Fantasyland. It looks to add a beautifully detailed and immersive environment to the area of the park most in need of one, and while no single element of the expansion is an E-Ticket, I think the whole of the parts adds up to one.
