Why is Brother Bear being promoted so much?

I don't feel like Brother Bear is overly promoted. I remember when Pocahontas was being promoted......before the movie came out, I was so sick of it. Here's a pic I just got of some characters from Brother Bear

After having seen the movie I think that I can honestly say it is not a bomb but… at the same time it is not one of Disney’s best movies.

The critics were right when they said that it was derivative but if you take any serious look at most mainstream movies, very little has been truly original over the last few decades… I mean, look at the Disney “classics”. The whole “princess” series and the fact that many of the storylines for Disney movies are based on classic stories is evidence that Disney has made a market of reinventing a few simple themes every several years with new generations…

Anyway, I liked it but I’ve liked others more. The animation was superb but I think the subject matter of the movie (which is very heavy in some areas) may be a bit problematic for some children.
